A Japanese bureaucrat put up, and then deleted, a huge rant about how there was totally a red and green zone on the Diamond Princess. And then ended it all with a photo of two different doors, one labeled 'Clean' and the other 'Dirty' leading into the same wide open passage through a section of the ship.

And all it will take to move the virus to another ship is some old fart getting on another boat to live on within a week or two because his old boat needs a thorough soaking in bleach and fire. Me too.. It would be poetic justice of the highest level.

Subvisual Haze posted:True quarantine is already a lost cause. It could have worked if the disease only spread when the carrier was symptomatic because then you have a chance of identifying and isolating the right people. NEJM has a case report from Germany though where asymptotic patients were infecting others 2 days before any symptoms appeared. That case report was later identified to be majorly flawed; the person they reported as asymptomatic had actually described having a bunch of symptoms (fever, cough, etc) Gearhead posted:And here's one for the 'deadly farts' crowd.
