New album is going to rip!

Haha, came to post this. I'm so stoked for the full album. I Let The Devil in was one of my most played of 2018 (and still sees a lotta rotation). Seeing 'em on Wed for the first time, so whoo-hoo

Also that new Polaris tape is solid. I've never really listened to them much before this, so I might have to go back and check out some of the older stuff.

Yeah, I still listen to I Let The Devil in a lot as well, it's pretty much flawless.

I'm kind of surprised you haven't been in more on Polaris since I like a lot of the stuff you post in here and The Mortal Coil album is so drat good.

The Place I Feel Safest is also a go-to album. Currents are just real fuckin' good.

Yeah, same. I've listened to a few tracks over the years, but they just never quite clicked for whatever reason. When the link for Hypermania got posted, I gave it a spin and was like, "wait, I think I like Polaris."

EDIT: since we're on a new page, here's some tunes

OK, since there seems to be going a lot of killer riffs and records, and I'm bad at remembering unless I get a specific name, I must ask: Due to work I got credited to buy about... 5 albums in Google Play. Which recent Metalcore albums are essential? Since becoming a thread regular, I've been listening to a lot of like Architects/Periphery/Knocked Loose.

Yeah like 5-6 2 track EPs and maybe eventually all of it at once? That would be a lot more convenient for streaming at least lol. Also I bet it's gonna spell something.

Kezia suffers a bit because it was early, but if it had been produced and mixed like Fortress it would definitely be my #1

Yeah, my only real issue with it is the production quality. It's clearly very well written/played (doubly so when you consider how young they were), but listening to it just makes me wanna switch over to newer, better produced material

Holy everloving poo poo. It's like they found the sweet spot between Metalcore, Post-Rock, Nü-Metal, Screamo and, I dunno, like the grooviest Sepultura got? And like the songs make sense. What the gently caress. A song is not supposed to make me cry and then the next song ain't supposed to make me want to mosh until my breath runs out and like both Masochist, Landmine and the tracks beyond just keep taking me in a weird musical-emotional-screwed-up rollercoaster. What the gently caress, Polaris? You can't do that to me! An old fart on his mid-30's ain't supposed to get this attached to music. What the gently caress!

I was tempted for a second, but since I felt like I was already preaching to the choir, maybe I thought that making it more of a "After repeated listens at all sorts of volumes" kind of post beyond the "It rips dicks without remorse!" requisite praise.

It's so good. For loving real. 'Pray for Rain' is such a perfect like encapsulator of the album as a whole.

Caught opening night of TAS tour last night in New Haven. They crushed, as always. My favorite live band by far. I came out of old washed up dude mosh retirement for them and I may have torn my meniscus lol. Set seemed oddly short and ended abruptly with Send Help and then suddenly the lights came up and everyone was gone. I think the fact that two bands no-showed (Fuming Mouth and Creeping Death) may have hosed them up or something.

Chamber were on first, they were decent - it sounded like early 2000s metalcore, which I'll never pretend not to like. Rotting Out were surprisingly great, really energetic LA hardcore band. I'll check them out in more depth after last night.

TAS setlist from memory, order is probably a little hosed up. DITOM and Gravebloom notably absent. Was hoping for Dust & The Helix and Model Citizen. Both of the new songs play amazingly well live, and people knew the words like 18 hours after the songs were released which was rad.
