Thanks to this new gently caress-up I discovered Adblock Plus existed on mobiles, and after installing it these new Google banner ads went away.

Anyway, regardless if it were intentional or an accident it made me worried that my phone had been infected with some sort of spyware which isn't a great feeling. Hopefully it's able to get resolved quickly.

The tax man knows full well how people would react to this being the new status quo. Hopefully someone makes a forum announcement so that people know what's going on and don't start freaking out en masse.
