Okay, this is like those commercials for disability aids that they're just trying to market to a broader audience, right? Like, most people don't need a sleeved blanket or a one-handed egg cracker, but maybe you sucker a few able-bodied people in, and the people who do need them are going to look at it this and say "Oh! That's a product for me!" What I'm saying is there is no way they had straight people in mind when creating this bed or this commercial

Apart from "physical health" magazines and pulp novels, there was no mass marketing to gay people in the 1950s. They weren't a profitable audience, and were seen as not only perverted but rare.
