Admins do have the power to send password reset emails but sometimes people no longer have access to the email address, and the forums at present fail to send emails to some domains, like me.com and icloud.com. It's not something I want to do lightly at all.

It's something about the requests going through cloudflare but the mail servers being at a different domain. I have not investigated thoroughly though, just repeating what I heard from chooch. It's something I'd like to fix but just using a third party email service might be the way to go.
