I was delayed at Perth airport once, and chose that time to read the excellent William Langewiesche article about the crash of EgyptAir Flight 990.

I binge watch Mayday/Air Crash Investigations for weeks before a long flight. It makes me feel better?

The flight I was just on had to do a go around because we got hit with a nasty crosswind as we were about to touch down.

Had I not watched a bunch of crosswind landing and go around videos thanks to the aeronautical insanity thread, I would have probably been like "omg, we almost died" instead of my first thought being "goddammit, I better not miss my connection."

So yay videos?

This case of an intraperitoneal zucchini is unusual, and does raise questions as to how hard one has to push a blunt vegetable to perforate the rectum.

Is the prop appearing to slow all the way down just an artefact of the frame rate syncing with it or...?

Alexander Moritz Frey, who served in the same regiment, wrote that Hitler’s moustache was indeed a response to the gas mask facial grooming orders.

This was discovered in his unpublished papers in 2007.

e: and I assume it's a frame sync thing, or else that propeller changed direction at least twice.

So do you just discard the first slice every time you cut?

Somehow eating a piece of toast with one warm side and one side which may have been toasted anywhere from yesterday to a week ago doesn't sound very appetizing.

That reminds me of all the weird Victorian electrical appliances that cropped up, like electrified heated tablecloths and stuff like that

Unrelated, a whole bunch of people in the Victorian era got electrocuted. Weird coincidence.
