Can I say a serious thing? Media here in Italy are now going full negationism-mode, because it turns out closing down a bunch of factories + all bars/pubs/stadiums/entertainment venues in the most populous and most industrialized area of the country is Very Bad for the economy, and even a couple days of curfew or forced shutdown is causing capitalists all over to wring their hands so much that they're likely to break them (their health is guaranteed anyway since they can afford the best cures, so why should they be worried, of course the peons must keep on working to ensure they have enough money to actually pay the top doctors and whatnot!) And so, since our politicians are not corrupt or unlawful in any way of course, everyone is now saying to stop testing people with mild symptoms, to only report cases when they're in the ICU or dead, and so on so we can reopen the cities and the factories, God forbid that loving FiatChryslerAutomobiles has to stop production for one day and lose money What I'm saying is, gently caress all this, pls Corona-chan come and wipe us off the face of the Earth, we're better off this way

BIG HEADLINE posted:Internet might suffer a bit if people start teleworking/shutting themselves in. People are going to use less electricity at home than they would be in an office building. No reason to think water infrastructure would fail wholescale, but if enough work crews get laid up and water mains break, certain areas could be without water or on boil advisories for a while. I think this is an accurate assumption. The rural parts of USA have less public utilities automation and fewer employees so when everyone gets sick things might get bumpy. Not to the point of week long water shutoffs, but there might be interruptions and it's good to be prepared.
