It all makes me think of Beetlejuice except a medieval watchtower instead of a farmhouse. It's located in Tuscany, so the climate is such you probably don't have to worry about heating it too much.

I don't think it's accurate at all, but corrugated ceiling gives a rustic shack feeling. Corrugated walls gives a third world slum feeling.
