It's crazy how much people downplay "it's only a 2% death rate." Imagine if you were taken to a room of 50 people. Imagine if the room was held hostage by a gunman who said "don't worry I'm only going to kill one of you and maim 6 others." You would not remain calm. You would poo poo yourself.

I think it's the fact that the gunman also mumbles about how much he hates the elderly that has some goons not caring. But I like my parents so I get it.

The 2% dead is no the most damaging thing, another thing that this virus has done massive damage is any industries that rely on gathering of people. I'm relatively low risk, but gently caress if I'm going to any restaurants or movie theaters until this situation is "managed." I don't plan on becoming a shut in. But everything time I do something I will be thinking, "is this worth potentially being exposed by the Corvid for?." I'm likely going to catch it in the long run anyways, but I would rather catch it later when hopefully better treatments and infrastructure will be in place.

i figure the marginal risk of stopping at a taco shop is pretty low compared to being surrounded by tens of thousands of college students

depends what you mean by functional

lithuania's been... making improvements*; if they've been reasonably competent with the whole test kit situation (unlike, uh, us) i'd expect their numbers to be vaguely accurate

treatment for acute cases is another matter entirely
