I still haven’t figured out the transcoding issues with plex, but I’m running an insane setup so I’m not surprised, I’m pretty sure it’s not a plex issue so I haven’t really fiddled around with the server side transcoding yet bc I’m pretty sure I can fix it by having a not insane setup so it’s on the back burner for now bc it’s the tv saying it can’t transcode the format, which it shouldn’t need to be doing if plex is doing what the transcoding tab says it does. Either I need to fiddle with the video settings in the Xbox (I know it’s not audio transcoding bc the insane part of the setup involves bypassing the tv entirely for audio) or just tell the tv to stop trying to decode 4K/whatever files while something else is doing it

Went and met my pending adoption cat yesterday. Didn't go that well but over the hour or so i was there she went from not even being in the room I was in to smelling my hand. So I am hopeful she will warm up to me over the weekend when I take ownership Friday. Was watching videos on how to introduce a cat to new environment and they suggest starting with a small room like a bathroom. Mine is too small to fit litter box, food and water dish, scratching thing bed etc so i think I will go with my bedroom which is bigger but overly so.

I think it's important with socialising cats to a new area and home is that you gotta ignore em, cos you know what pays a lot of attention to cats? Threats. We were catsitting a mates cat and she hid in our closet in a pile of clothes for a while. Then the housemates came home and everyone had to come see the cat and so she figured out that the clothes pile was compromised. She ended up hiding in a slightly open drawer by climbing in behind it, and would only come out at night or when my girlfriend got home. I just completely ignored her and within a week or so she was hanging out with me while my girlfriend was at work. When we got Artichoke i did the same thing but it only took him about 24 hours to come around but he is a big rig so I think he has less fear.

Yeah it takes time, and treats. If you have time, once it's more socialised, try scatter feeding the cat around your house with random bowls and small portions hidden. Gotta get people out of the habit of bowl feeding in one place for cats and dogs, it's easy behavioural enrichment.

Parroting everyone else, it took Poppy a good while to start to warm up to us. We hung a blanket over the cat tree for her to hide under and fed her there, then over time she got friendlier and friendlier. Now she's this. It took her 2-3 months before she started seeking out a lap.
