They occasionally make off-colour jokes and don't exhibit sufficient po-faced earnestness as far as I can tell. Quite a few accusations of class reductionism too and implicitly therefore ignorance of race issues, from people who think class is an 'identity' rather than an economic relationship. It's just frustrating that so many of those attacking them consider themselves radical left wingers lol

Scotland's Chief Medical Officer has said as much as 4% of the population could realistically be hospitalised due to coronavirus. From current COVID-19 survivors, you're looking at an average of 10 days in hospital, if you're hospitalised. 4% of Scotland is 210,000. Scotland's NHS bed capacity is only about 13,000. Not all of those 210,000 are gonna be all at once, it's likely this would be spread over maybe 12 months, but that's still going to out a MASSIVE strain on the NHS, and it's in better condition up here than down south.

I'm currently looking to buy a flat/house. One issue I'm having is that I really don't want to buy a place with tenants and kick them out, but holy poo poo is it difficult to find places that aren't tenanted near city centres. Do ya'll think it's not super lovely if I give them enough warning and probably lower the rent for the duration they're still staying there?

Getting rid of tenants can take *forever* if they know their rights and you don't follow the correct procedure to the absolute letter, and even then it might take months. Also, if you need a mortgage then you'll have to get a BTL mortgage as you need vacant possession for a standard mortgage. It's a huge nightmare and I wouldn't recommend it.

The new Kent infection that's being reported today is near me, in Maidstone Studios - a big office building with people coming and going from all over the place because they also record TV shows there. We actually went out today and bought a freezer full of food and a few dozen tins of veggies / beans / fruit. I doubt we'll need to use it, but it's a comfort to know it's there, and in the event this whole thing fizzles out we can just eat it all anyway. I expect the advice tomorrow will be to tell employers to let employees work from home if at all possible, and to self-quarantine at the first sign of any vaguely similar symptoms.
