It sounds like GCW had a decent deal worked out, Sonny decided to press them to see if any more money fell out, GCW canned the whole thing sensing a grift, and now Sonny gets nothing. I know he's not exactly the 1% or anything but I'm pretty sure that if Muta wanted to take his family to Disney he could just...you know, take them to Disney.

Reading the story I just assumed that Sonny was bullshitting entirely and wasn't actually repping Muta at all but it turns out he was? That's the really weird thing about all this, that Muta and a rep apparently worked out a deal that was completed and done and then suddenly he decided to get a new rep and completely renegotiate the entire thing?

sonny probably got wind of the deal and asked for the reins on making contact and renegotiating as the agent for it to help both of them, even though it's really just to help sonny and he hosed it up. the pitch to get involved would have been done over an insane amount of drinks

He's the least effective negotiator because GCW still has a ton of goodwill from the last couple years and can just book someone else, the fans will still be happy. Like poo poo, GCW and Joey could just book a match against Sanshiro Takagi and let him bring all his ridiculous DDT gimmick weapons and have it in a random street behind a bar and it'd probably be actually better than what we would've got with Mutoh in the first place.
