A journalist in Israel interviewed someone from that Japanese cruise ship when they got back to Israel because they were cleared. After the interview the cruise ship person tested positive. Now the journalist is in quarantine.

I live in downtown Toronto surrounded every day by mainland Chinese and if it wasn't for news headlines and goon meltdowns I wouldn't have even known that there was an outbreak of anything unusual ie in places that are demographically the most at risk for this thing nobody on the ground really gives a gently caress I have family in whitebread rural Ontario buying up those construction masks though

Something I noticed in White House press conferences... whenever the speaker is answering a reporter's question, the people behind them just keep staring at the reporter for however long the answer is, like some weird staring contest. It's disturbing as gently caress.

NVidia's developer's conference (GTC, not the video game one that was already canceled) was scheduled for later this month and just announced that they're going digital only so as to protect silicon valley from coronavirus They had the entire San Jose convention center and like a dozen expensive hotels block-booked, god only knows how much cash they're losing over this decision I was scheduled to give a talk there and feel kind of relieved over this turn of events. Wouldn't want to wind up like Burt
