He talks about staying in Mexico past his playing career and there has been unironic talk of talking to FIFA and trying to get him out for the national team. It's not remotely possible at all but that doesn't stop the corrupt mouthbreathers in the Mexican press or FMF from talking about it. I'm not advocating for it, just pointing out how much Gignac has enjoyed his time in Mexico and how much Mexican football has been receptive to him.

Like how Shaqiri and others could have switched to Kosovo if they wanted, when that became a fifa team in 2016.
