Thunderball has to be up there. It's the one with the jet pack.

edit: I guess that's the opening sequence. If you're talking intro credits with the song, it's gotta be A View To A Kill.

For some reason I always assume Maurice Binder didnt do Dr No. Probably because it's so weird, compared to his later titles.

Here to poo poo it up with my top 5 themes in no particular order and its
Living Daylights
The Man with the Golden Gun
In Her Majesties Secret service
View To a kill
Goldfinger

And yes I know people hate Golden Gun and I know why, but it's just super loving memorable, the lyrics are atrocious in ways I adore, and the horns do a lot for me.

I bumped Diamonds for living daylights, its close, but I do like my new wave.

Agreed, I think that the worst scenes on Bond films are the ones where the producers sunk-cost-fallacy themselves into keeping them in the final cut.

Other that immediately come to mind are Kananga-Balloon and the Torture Chair in Spectre.

Small Strange Bird

Merci, chaton!
Nah, Kananga's bloodless kaboom death was really the only way they could go with it, since the Bond series at the time always aimed for a family-friendly rating. Other than "oh, he got eaten by his own sharks" (predictable) or "Bond just shoots him" (boring).

Besides, having the villain literally fart himself into the air and explode is definitely something nobody had ever seen before - and it's certainly memorable!

I think The Writing's on the wall is sleepy and forgettable, Die Another Day was just bad. It's tough judging the early ones because that era of music is just not my thing so I don't like a lot of them.

This is kind of unofficial because they didn't use it in the opening titles, but Surrender by KD Lang is great. I do like Sheryl Crow's, but I think this has it beat.

Yea I hate that one too, there's just very little energy to it. Madonna feels bored, as if she just wants to get the song over with. Compare that to Goldeneye where a 50-something Tina Turner sounds like she's going to burst through the screen with the amount of energy she's bringing to the song.

...cheesy techno is my guilty pleasure. I still listen to ATC's "All Around The World" and Eiffel 65's "I'm Blue" in 2020.

Worst Bond song is Writing On The Wall, hands down.

I also like the Die Another Day theme, but I realize it's terrible garbage.

The worst is The Writing's on the Wall then Die Another Day.

Third worst is Another Way to Die. Alicia Key's style just irritates me. Much of what she does is so close to being good, but sounds like it's being played through a very loud, broken speaker outside a grocery store; or was recorded through a wall with a small open door. Another Way to Die is no different.

Another Way to Die is by far the worst. It's a karaoke level duet, that isnt in either of of the singers' natural range. Things like Die Another Day or Moonraker are goofy stupud, but that one is something half of the people listening could sing better, and half of amateur musicians could write better. It makes no sense.

Add me to the club who likes Die Another Day for some loving reason. I am a sucker for that era of Madonna with the synthpop feel going on.

Of the Craig films, my favorite is probably You Know My Name, because that poo poo was rad as gently caress (and has probably my favorite opening credits sequence.) The worst is hands down Writing on The Wall. Good god, what the hell is that song.

Weird question, but does anyone know the logic of when Bond films go on streaming? Many of them were available a few months ago, but with the new movie looming, they've vanished. Any guesses as to when they'll come back?

I think it's fine, the visuals of the opening really help it - it's probably the best part of that movie, which isn't saying much, but I'd still take it over the completely forgettable Eilish drek.

I saw a video of Zimmer/the orchestra recording the most recent song, so now I kind of like it, if only due to.hoping he can blend it into the actual score in this short timeline he has to do it.

I also love the movies that are scored around a main theme that is no longer the main theme because they switch it out last minute. Tomorrow Never Dies being the largest offender.

Yes, you’re right, it only truly works when paired with the opening sequence. That’s a different question from just which is the best song and I think what also elevates songs like Goldeneye.

Unfortunately, in order for these movies to make their 8 shitzillion-dollar production budgets back they have to (A) have ludicrous amounts of product endorsements and (B) release in theaters.
