Are there any good resources predicting how widespread the virus ACTUALLY is? "Confirmed cases" to me feels like the tip of the iceberg, because humans are selfish and most people will not go to a doctor and risk being quarantined.

Repeat.) ok i've been doing this for a while so a couple tips: - you don't need to use a cup or a half cup or whatever, it's more about the proportions you're adding or removing so you could half that and it would still work basically just the same. i only keep a half cup of starter and only need a cup for a loaf of bread. once it's built up you can just have a little bit of starter and add however much flour you'll need and it'll be ready the next day - you don't need to toss half every day necessarily. once it's going you can leave it in the fridge (sealed so it doesn't dry out) for up to a week. and if you have extra while you're getting it going, may i suggest: pancakes - 1/2 cup sourdough starter - 1 tsp salt - 1/4 tsp baking soda - 1 egg - 1 tbsp butter mix starter, baking soda, salt and egg together. add butter to pan and heat it up on medium high. once it's melted pour it into the starter and mix it up. then apply pancake mix to heated pan to create delicious pancakes

Testing for it in people who are sick is really only tracking some of the spread of the virus one to two weeks ago when they caught it. It’s also self selecting for people who are sick enough to see a doctor or have some other reason to suspect they have it. The closest we can get to an understanding of the spread is from the systematic testing being done in China and Korea, although I guess even that won’t show up people who have contracted it but haven’t had it for long enough to contain enough of the virus to show up on a test.

So the plauge ship coming from Hawaii going to Mexico, but now rerouted to major urban area San Francisco, Has just passed the last "offramp" for SF marine traffic, is actually currently still in international waters, headed north at about half speed My wild rear end guess is that the plauge ship is headed towards Eureka, OR, as it's about 10% the population, fairly rural, and the next deep water port up the coast Doesn't explain why they are doing half speed + in international waters still. Maybe ferrying Coronavirus test kits on and off the boat. There is a major coastguard station(s) here in the bay...

You misheard, humans are actually shellfish (most people are asymptomatic or have mild-enough symptoms that a doctor's visit would be a waste of time and resources, there are already not enough kits for suspected hospitalized cases adding a bunch of mild cases on top of that would be futile)
