I was reading the Carnegie Hero Awards website earlier and it's full of things like this, except instead of police officers, it's just regular people risking (and sometimes losing) their lives to save others. It has 1270 entries under "burning vehicle".

This one has a terrifying video that his wife took as he pulled the injured man from the car.
