I keep hearing this but I don't agree. It will either improve people's lives, or it won't. If it does, good. If it doesn't, run a different socialist in four years, and the policies will be even more popular, and the spectre of Trump will be gone. The whole idea that a centrist election win will forever ruin the left wing is as true now as it was ten years ago, or as it is in any other developed country.

the problem would be that rather than bernie winning now and emptying out all of the grifters and shitheads at the dnc (so left wing challengers continue to get shut out), a centrist would empower them and since biden isnt going to fix anything in society, enthusiasm drops through the floor and we are back in the same situation as we are now

except worse since four years of bullshit status quo garbage that doesnt help anybody but those at the top, especially if there is a bad recession, just gives the far right more chances to seep in and radicalize those that leftist policy couldve helped

trump would successfully run to the left of biden on things like social security, medicare, etc

in the outside odds that biden wins he'll end up helping republicans cut all those things because it's the only policy objective his dogshit pudding brains can remember he wants to do, and then republicans will be able to credibly blame democrats for dismantling those things because the bills that did it will have turd brain biden's name on it

the only way biden win is if enough people actually are motivated solely by getting trump out

of course, if this happens then these people won't show up in 2022 and 2024, and we'll end up with gop majorities with a competent fascist at the helm

I kinda think this Tuesday won't be as bad as ST because even the normies are starting to be aware of Biden's brain melt. My grandma was talking about it this weekend and it was enough for her to vote Bernie when she was originally leaning towards Biden

Biden is going to lose largely because too many people are not going to give a flying gently caress about getting him elected.

like, you don't need to vote for Trump, and maybe you personally will even vote for Biden, but all the people knocking on doors, donating to campaigns, textbanking, phonebanking, all that poo poo? Bye bye!

I loving hope so.

The Biden camp can barely get the man out on stage but he's got the entire MSM and tremendous amounts of money and infrastructure proxied in and is the 'default' option once more so we have to use every opportunity to contrast and beat into anyone looking how much of a easy chewtoy he would be for Trump

That's silly, you've seen how hornily and voraciously the Republicans cover AOC, she'd get so much coverage on Fox they'd have no choice but to respond.

i don't think it would've changed much because the lib media would just refuse to report on it anyways so we wouldn't really blunt clyburn's influence, IMO, just weird that an ideological ally (a real one, not a fraud like liz) waited until after SC and super tuesday

I would assume that Jackson didn't want to cause a schism with his friends in South Carolina. But it was pretty clear that Jackson and Sharpton were for Sanders in SC.

I think it is very difficult (although it seems that it really should not be, considering Biden's record) to break apart the institutional goodwill that centrist Democrats have with people of color over 50.

the problem isn’t “institutional goodwill,” I don’t think. it’s that
1) older voters of all colors are conservative! they just are! a lot of older AAs would
vote republican if it wasn’t the white supremacy party
2) the ONLY issue that vast hordes of suburban normies care about it getting rid of trump and the media’s relentless trolling campaign against Bernie on electability has poisoned the well there

Bernie needed to go much harder on electability, pound the table about the Midwest, and attack Joe Biden as unelectable much earlier
