From the Congressional Record:

Joe Biden posted:

Saddam is dangerous. The world would be a better place without him. But the reason he poses a growing danger to the United States and its allies
is that he possesses chemical and biological weapons and is seeking nuclear weapons, with the $2 billion a year he illegally skims from the U.N. oil-for food program. For four years now, he has prevented United Nations inspectors from uncovering those weapons and verifying Iraq’s disarmament, and he is in violation of the terms he agreed to allowing him to stay in power.

You can read Joe's entire speech at the link below, it starts on page 215 of the PDF. It's heavy in talking about how much reaching across the aisle and working with Republicans took place to pass a flawed AUMF that President Bush swears he won't use to go to war. It's a little weasily the way he says he didn't believe that Saddam had nuclear weapons as he did believe that Saddam was seeking them.

That's what's really frustrating about Joe's "I'm a bridge to the candidates standing behind me" comment. If you want them to be in control, step down!

People better put their helmets on, because short of a miracle, Trump's getting reelected. Nothing so far has stuck to him, and I don't see anything actually hindering him.

I forget, was the whole 'Saddam wants nukes' story a out-and-out lie, or just a really bad distortion of the truth?

I could have sworn I read some CIA analysis online somewhere that said that Saddam may have wanted nukes, but didn't stand a chance in hell of getting anything even close.

Of course he wanted nukes. Actually having nuclear weapons is one of the most effective ways to keep the US out of your country and at the negotiating table.

I mean he pretty narrowly missed being impeached for a bunch of crimes, is hated by probably more people worldwide than anyone since Dubya, and possibly already has corona virus.

On the other side of the coin, the only alternatives on offer are a choice between an 80 year old socialist and a republican who put on the wrong coloured tie some time back in the 1960s and just decided to go with it, who also happens to be experiencing some serious cognitive decline, so I get the pessimism.

Crazy how even with a population of 372 million, the democrats can't find a candidate that's likely to survive a full two terms.

IIRC Iraq had a nuclear program in the '80s that got obliterated by an Israeli airstrike. Their chemical and biological facilities were also destroyed during the '90s, so by the time Bush came to power they had precisely jack and poo poo in terms of WMDs. Administration didn't care about the evidence, twisted reality to fit their worldview (telling the CIA for instance to only give them intelligence that showed Iraq was involved with Al Qaeda and pursuing WMDs), and got Colin Powell to ruin his reputation by presenting false evidence in front of the UN to get the rest of the world on board.

Got I'm getting mad just thinking about it. The Bush administration was just completely insane, and the lengths they went to justify the war (while simultaneously refusing to actually prepare for it, producing precisely zero plans for the occupation or) withdraw) was incredibly brazen.

paul wolfowitz, paul bremer, and david rumsfeld would have been shot for treason in a just reality, and Tommy Franks and Ricardo Sanchez charged with dereliction of duty

He had a program up till the Gulf War, after which he dismantled the program.

Here is a lecture from Berkley that explains what the UN inspectors found and how primitive, though possibly effective, his program was in the 80s.

Other than Trump dying of the Corona virus, the other two don't really matter. Impeachment just came and went, and the rest of the world doesn't get a vote on who the president is.

Yep. Trumpers are sending the video around and everyone's either triggered by "AR-14" or celebrating that Biden did exactly what he should've loving did.
