Bernie overwhelmingly won the youth vote, Biden overwhelmingly won the old vote (seems like the age cut off in polls is around 45ish). But for many reasons the old vote wins. There are more of them thanks to the baby boom, there are far more polling places in their areas, they're less likely to be arbitrarily taken off voting rolls, and it's easier for them to get out to vote on a weekday than a young person who is more likely to need to work etc.

Sanders appears to be getting the same supporters out again, maybe even a little more this time. They are dwarfed by the boomer horde. Possibly Republicans with no interesting primary of their own to vote in are crossing over and voting for the most Republican democrat on the ballot, but it's hard to say.

the Bernie Electability Theory advanced by his campaign and media surrogates was that Bernie would overcome any potential disadvantage amoung swing voters by creating a massive turnout of highly energized young voters who normally stay home. that wave of young voters didn't materialize this cycle, at least not distinctly enough from higher turnout among dems overall which can be attributed to being in opposition

imo the more likely scenario in which bernie wins the general is that partisanship is so intense that basically no moderate dems defect and bernie draws in enough third party voters / populist lean-Rs to win, basically a reverse of what trump did

That’s not turnout I swear to go I want to give a day ban to anyone who refers to proportions as evidence of turnout. It looks like youth turnout is mostly flat despite massive voter suppression. Plus in a general a 30% youth (roughly defined as 18-35) vs 40% is make or break. I’m not sure it gets to 30% lol.
