I don't care how many people I probably infected with COVID-19 while refusing to wear a mask, my comfort is far more important than the health and safety of everyone around me!

Thought I'd give onedrive a whirl to sync our my company's sharepoint folders.

Turns out onedrive forces the root folder to be "My name - some long rear end official company name" that's been set up in Office365 and it's impossible to change without changing the org name in O365.

What a piece of poo poo.

Yes, I can change the sync location. What I can't change is the fact that, regardless of where I put the sync folder, it still syncs everything into that long-rear end name.

It's happy to put it in \totalnewbie\OneDrive\OneDrive - My company name (sorry, not my name..)
Or in \totalnewbie\Desktop\OneDrive - My company name
Or I could even put it in \MS Sucks\whatisthis\whyisthissolong\OneDrive - My company name

But the last bit cannot be changed without changing the organization name setting in O365. TBH I'd like it removed altogether but I'd at least settle for something not obscenely long.

I mean, if you want to point me to instructions otherwise then I'm more than happy to eat crow. But until then, this is some dumb poo poo.

That was real great when they had the 255 character file path limit and you paired it with big lawfirm style org names. I think they bumped that to 400+ now, so slightly better.

I would also be happy to be shown that this is possible, because I had the exact same issue/realization a while back. (Dropbox does this too. Why I had to sync a fileserver using Dropbox...just don't ask. It didn't go well - turns out the Dropbox client also chokes when faced with file counts in the millions).
