It looks like the danish prime minister is closing the entire non-essential public sector. Some of the news stations are presenting it like the beginning of a zombie movie.

Starting to think they are using this as a chance to get a bunch of 80 plussers off the Healthcare network. And Denmark has now got 514 confirmed cases. 10 of those are hospitalised, 2 in critical condition. All universities will be closing for two weeks from Friday, and all schools for two weeks Monday. The government has urged people not to congregate with more than 100 people at a time. Nobody is getting on trains without a seat reservation.

Just saw the news here and the Dutch government still hasn't taken any real measures. Just 'stay home if you feel sick'. Also my husband told me tonight that the father of one of the former interns at his office has the Roni, but then that's it's okay for us because that intern hasn't been in the office for weeks now! That didn't reassure me as much as he thinks it did.

I was watching the prime minister's address and groaned halfway through when I realized I had better run out and buy some vegetables so we can have something resembling a balanced diet for the next week. Came right when the rush was hitting the grocery stores. Some very confused cashiers, the poor kids are getting slammed tonight.

Hi I took 2.5 weeks of vacation and am just returning to the forums, can someone bring me up to speed on whether we're taking COVID seriously yet? Like I'm not one to grind an axe but I was repeatedly told I was sowing fear and panic over nothing (including by one idiot who claimed to be an HIV epidemiologist ) but I think we're taking it seriously now? Right?

I'm in STL, and I'm not sure if y'all head here (I'm still catching up on the thread) but we had a the family of a woman with the virus, just skip out on their quarantine. The father ended up going to a father-daughter dance, and one of my upper upper managers was there. So now today my immediate boss (who sits two desks over from me) comes in to work saying he had a bad cough and trouble breathing over the weekend. He then proceeded to cough all over the drat office. And of course, my department doesn't have the option to work from home. I'm basically bathing in purell, but RIP me. poo poo, I heard about that Father Daughter Dance moron in another thread (or was it this one?). The cops are guarding them in their house now, aren't they? Good luck...

Have a healthcare worker friend who still refuses to care any more than a shrug and "eh, I wish they would stop talking about it" Like they can't wrap their head around that people are worried about a new virus that's spreading like mad and experts don't know how to reduce the spread.

EAT FASTER!!!!!! posted:Hi I took 2.5 weeks of vacation and am just returning to the forums, can someone bring me up to speed on whether we're taking COVID seriously yet? Much like the infection itself, there has been exponential growth in the number of people taking Covid-19 seriously. In this thread I don't think I've seen a naysayer for weeks until that goon who got pulverized into a virus-laden aerosol plume last night Naysayers exist still, of course, but they are way outnumbered. Chuds like Marc Rubio are still making the flu comparison and the US government is still doing a loving terrible job of managing things, the House is trying to get things done but you already know that the Senate is going to poo poo on anything that might help poor people.
