Yeah, please don't misunderstand: my own parents are in their mid-70s. I've been checking in on them every other day, because I'm genuinely worried, too, and I realize it's a generally callous thing to say. As was pointed out, it's morbid as hell, and not without its own sense of cruelty. It's just been that kind of month.

My grandparents are pretty healthy, all told, but they're also in their 80s and live on the east coast. Both of my parents are in their 70's; my mom has had multiple heart attacks including multiple bypass surgeries and is currently on her 2nd or 3rd biventricular-ICD device. My dad just completed chemo December for lung cancer, and is dealing with a blood clot, and is still getting over pneumonia. Needless to say I'm not in a good place right now.

My mom is in Florida for vacation right now and already has a weak immune system because of multiple health problems and she and her boyfriend don't see the big deal yet. I'm trying to get them home to canada this week but I'm guessing her boyfriend is being all "it's just another flu, no reason to waste money" type of thing

It doesn’t act like the flu for younger people. It acts like a cold with a little more lung fluid than sinus drainage. The three people I know with mild cases have slight sniffles and cough. We had the flu a few months ago. It was worse although seemed to be over quicker.
