gently caress off, don't try to panic buy random medicines that you don't need (and may or may not even be any good for the disease)

Let's get clean and smart

Just got back from grocery shopping. Eversince yesterday "hamsteren" has been trending on the Twitter, which is Dutch for hoarding, so I was expecting some bonkers poo poo. Extremely busy and hard to navigate with all the carts and they kept wheeling in big pallets of TP, but I got everything on the list for this weekend. We usually do our weekly trip on Saturday but Mr Ralph is in no mood for this poo poo at all so I had to get everything today. Signs up saying limited purchases for things like baby formula and paracetamol, and pasta and canned tomatoes were decimated. Still I got everything on my list.

It's only midday on Friday though, I suspect that shopping this evening and tomorrow will be intense as people get off work. We live in a quiet suburb of Utrecht with mostly elderly and families so it isn't getting buckwild yet like Amsterdam and Rotterdam have as our population density isn't as high.

Yes, you should close. Everything nonessential should have closed two or three weeks ago.

you could also use hydrogen peroxide to spray down surfaces. just be sure to A: Leave it there for at least a minute, and B: clean it up afterwards really well, preferably with soap and water.

Had to pop down to the store again to get some stuff for the weekend just now. They were pretty much well stocked and only the racks with cleaning supplies were empty except for some toilet brushes.
What I did notice was that everyone was being super polite suddenly. Even the Christian old bat at the register who normally gives me the stink eye when i buy beer or cigarettes said hello for the first time.

amazon delivery doesn't seem like a job that has to interact with people closely? you put the package on the doorstep, ring the bell, and go back to the truck before they even open the door.

if you share delivery trucks with other people, maybe wipe down the steering wheel when you start the day.

Social media is bad.

No one is panic buying TP because they need to poo poo a lot.

Everyone is buying TP because other people are buying it and hearing that TP is scarce.

It just takes a little momentum to get started before it takes over. Remember when everyone was going ape poo poo buying gas last year for a week because a hurricane hit the refinery? There was enough gas if everyone use it normally, but everyone started hoarding once they heard everyone ELSE was already hoarding, then boom empty gas stations. People as stupid as gently caress, but at the same time if you personally try to wait and calmly ride it out like a rational person then poo poo is already gone due to the early panic buyers. lol at the idea of rational actors guiding the market

Fortunately I did the blown insulation thing on my house a couple of years ago and bought several of those with extra filters.

Although I don't think I'd want to walk around in public with it on. Gotta look cool you know?

Disinfectant by the door and if people aren't wearing masks where you are leave some tissues or something for people who need to cough or whatever. If it gets bad in your area
you'll probably need to close down for a week or so
