I made the argument that it would be a bad idea when we weren't in a pandemic but soon came to realize that she probably lusts for old lady death. If she's in a home they may not let anyone in who is obviously sick. Most of them have policies that sick people aren't supposed to visit at the best of times, but they are getting really uptight about it right now.

Yeah I have pursueded my wife to go on lockdown. We have a kid in daycare and I am not sending him in. Basically my plan is to just wait 5 days and then only get in contact with people who have also been quarantined for that amount of time, basically getting ahead of the ineveitable lockdown. She can work from home and I am looking for a new computer toucher job.

Me being in the office guarantees nothing except that I'm more tired from waking up earlier and more annoyed because I have to do a commute to get there. There are a number of posts on r/childfree complaining of companies allowing people with kids to work from home, but not their non-parent co-workers performing the same duties. Never mind that kids would, on average, be way way way more distracting than pretty much anything lying around a typical household. mrfart posted:Here in Belgium the authorities had the 'political courage' to close bars and restaurants. Can they not restrict international travel? Does the "free travel" agreement that comes with EU membership make no exception for disease control? Or is that simply a matter of them being unable to set up so many checkpoints so quickly? Facebook Aunt posted:Probably not. The electric ones are real pricy. They heat the water and blow dry your butt and probably have a better build quality than the $40 ones. The toilets with all that stuff built in generally go for about $4000-5000.

Get worried if you get breathing difficulties or other serious respiratory poo poo. I just wanna add GET SOME SLEEP. Lack of a full night's sleep depresses your immune system. Go to bed early, sleep until you aren't tired. Stay hydrated. Obviously this isn't a magic bullet but don't push yourself like you might otherwise be inclined to do and just try and relax and recover if you're feeling aches or exhaustion.

Huskalator posted:Ok but that has nothing to do with whether surgical masks offer some form of protection. If surgical masks offer "some" protection, so do scarves. And balaclavas. And bandanas. And water jug on head, but people would probably make fun of that too. Heck, a scarf type thing probably offers more protection than a surgical mask, because it covers more of your head. Peeps don't have to cough in your mouth. If people cough on your hair and then you touch your hair and rub your eyes, bam, you've got the roni. If you're healthy but worried enough to wear surgical masks, then you should be worried enough to shower several times a day. Oh, and those disposable surgical masks? Yeah, you need to change them every 30 minutes or they are much less effective. Strapping a contaminated mask to your face is much worse than doing nothing. So I hope you bought enough to go through 30 a day. Some sort of fabric scarf is probably a greener and easier choice if you're doing it "just in case" for "some" protection. Buying 10 or 20 scarves is easy. Every half hour or hour or whatever makes you feel safe tear it off and put it and any accumulated virus particles in a sealed bag and put on a clean one. At the end of the day throw your bag of plague scarves (and the clothes you wore outside) into the laundry with soap and maybe bleach, and they'll be ready and safe to reuse tomorrow. Nice low cost option, probably just as useful as a surgical mask, maybe more. Looking good Bob. Way better coverage than a puny surgical mask. Awesome coverage, and I bet all those fuzzy tentacles would be great at intercepting droplets before they get near your holes. God tier. Look how many layers a droplet would have to pass through! If weather permits this is the way to go. Gotta get that eye pro. Somebody sneezes in your eye you're dead. Looking manly there Doug. Even better coverage. Scarfs are so versatile! Nice wrapping technique, but this many has clearly already succumbed to Roni Eye.

Me being in the office guarantees nothing except that I'm more tired from waking up earlier and more annoyed because I have to do a commute to get there. I've had arguments with otherwise-rational peers in the management team at my company about this over the past few days. They are afraid that when their team is inevitably allowed to go remote they will be unresponsive and get no work done, and projects will fall behind. I asked if they noticed a pattern where less-productive team members were magically made more productive merely by in-person attendance, or if those people had to be poked and prodded just as much when working in the office. I think what I've concluded is that managers put too much stock in the effectiveness of their constant badgering, and equate it with productivity.
