Kind of amazing how quickly everybody started taking this seriously. Just about every restaurant around here is voluntarily closed to everything but take-out and delivery. Two days ago it was business as usual.

Day 2 of working from home. Really bored. Did all housework on day 1. Not sure I've spoken in five days. Hadn't realised 99% of my human interactions were at the office and the gym. Wish I had a pet. Consider phoning family but think better of it. Ordered bicycle training machine and will def use it at least once. Five rolls of toilet paper remain. Will ration as best I can.

Look in your mirrors and steer in the direction that the trailer is swaying. I work in logistics management and the average age of truckers is already a concern. Especially now that electronic logging regs are scaring a lot of them away. The only way I could see untrained labor helping in the industry would be if we get driverless trucks on the road and just keep a body in the cab to open the doors, check the rig for maintenance issues, and hand out paperwork.

This is reasonable and how things would normally go. The president started to take it serious so everyone else is taking it serious now. I think some people have realized he should have been taking it serious earlier and are taking additional measures. Most people do not care about politics and assume everything is great and perfect. They assume they can trust what the president says. I think that is a reasonable point of view most of the time and if they missed the last 3 years of news well this is their wakeup call I guess.

It is now day 1 of EA's "heavily recommended" work from home for every employee in North American, Europe, and Australia. We're lucky in that most people just need to tap computers to do their job. On the downside the apartment that we rent has terrible insulation and it's freezing in here constantly. We should be good for total quarantine at home for at least quite a few weeks but we also started a home purchase across the country like 1 week before the apocalypse hit so we'll see how that goes I guess. We may end up having to do some kind of insane 4-day cross-country roadtrip to get to our new city,

Not sure if a lot of people were thinking about it but convenience stores seem to be fully stocked. Walked into a Dari Mart here in Oregon to get a drink and I was surprised to see all their shelves full. Got a couple loafs of bread and a couple bags of chips. May be a good spot to check out if people want to avoid large stores.

Bought some more rations (beer) today and also picked up a big bag of flour and some yeast. I carried that up to the guy two floors above since he's a baker who's offered to make bread for anyone who gets hit. I'm normally an rear end in a top hat to my neighbours, but here I am, at least trying to help a little bit. Feels weird. I think it's called dugnad in the ancient language of my people.
