good call. probably gonna switch to TD-A for ToS, unless there's a better platform?

Also, I'm guessing there's no way to actually move positions between brokers?

You should do a portfolio transfer so you don't pay for realizing gains when you are going to buy the positions again (and so you don't get a wash sale on anything you have to take a loss on). If you contact the place you are transferring to before hand they will generally offer to cover the transfer fee unless it's a really small amount, then they will tell you that your taxes will be less than the fee and to liquidate and open a new account with them.

Just set up a Charles Schwab account, I think they've gone fee-less with stock buy/sells but anything more advanced has a fee.

Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
I like TDA okay, I didn't choose to be their customer, they bought me as a customer and didn't manage to gently caress up so badly that I've left.

I just recommend against leaving money in RH because they are demonstrably incompetent and the ONLY thing they offer you over other brokers is commission free option trades where you'll get loving jobbed on the spreads. For that you get to embrace:

- Some idiot blowing up your broker and taking out your ability to trade because the broker doesn't implement Regulation-T properly.
- Crashes after Feb 29th every 4 years.
- Consistent existential threats to your broker's continued operation.

If you aren't paying, you're the product. RobinHood's maybe okay for the broke college students who have no money and are yoloing stupid positions. Everyone else should be paying to get something worth paying for.

I don't know too many broke college students who have the capital to yolo stupid positions very much, or meet margin requirements for that matter. TD's pretty nice, though. They've got a bunch of easy access to info, even on their basic web interface. I suspect (hope) that Schwab will leave the platform alone, but who knows.

RH gives you a margin with almost nothing, that's why reddit uses it, that's why people keep getting into options that shouldn't be.

I'm not playing this one, I thought about jumping in when WSB was talking about it 2 weeks ago and started playing another game that I want to see through and didn't have the liquid when you brought it up again. Get paid, I'm very green on my stuff too (I bought UBER and LYFT puts instead)

About 3-4 weeks ago I bought SPY puts way OTM when the price was like 310 or something, expecting the market to take a substantial dip at some point. Sure enough it did and I sold them on Monday last week, thinking everyone still had the BTFD page open in their playbook. Got a 3x price back on it but it could have been 10x (or more, given how this week is looking)

All my long positions are eating poo poo like the rest of us, but I'm not looking to retire this decade so whatever, but I need to get better instincts with my options gambling side bets.

WSJ reporting the airlines are seeking $50b in aid, nice call a few pages back, though not surprising.

gently caress those guys though. Especially American. $15b in share buybacks while letting their service go to complete poo poo while nickle and diming their consumers? Isn't Doug Parker the asshat who said his airline may never lose money again? Now they want taxpayers to bail them out?

gently caress them. We can function just as well with two carriers in this country as three.

I bought 5 25 strike vxx calls back in february when vxx was at like 13. I sold them when they were up 900%. If I held til today they would be up 8000%. Those 5 options would have mitigated almost all my losses in my long positions so far.
