No, keep putting money in. Or, at least the matching minimum.

The key to 401ks/TSPs is that you don't know where the bottom of the market is and you don't know where the top of the market is. Sure, you could potentially move your poo poo to the G fund at any time (the theoretical top), then back to stonks (the theoretical bottom), but that poo poo's impossible.

If you leave your poo poo in, you still get all the hidden benefits of money staying in, like dividends and poo poo that drive up the per-share value of the TSP funds, even if they stay stagnant. Not to mention that your money going in is untaxed (if traditional TSP).

Even if you're retiring now (like my mom), as long as you don't completely cash out right now, and as long as the economy recovers in the future, it pays to stay in. Plus, if poo poo completely crashes and your 401k/TSP is still hosed in a few years, we'll all be worried about things way worse than retirement plans.

I put in like 1 % more than the minimum for matching. With the market plummeting like this I thought it might be better to stop and just put it towards my mortgage instead.

It would appear that, under Article I, §4, cl. 1, Congress would have broad
authority to postpone elections so as to account for emergency situations. The
Supreme Court and lower courts have interpreted the language of Article I, § 4, cl.
1 to mean that Congress has extensive power to regulate most elements of a
congressional election. For instance, the Supreme Court has noted that the right to vote for Members of Congress is derived from the Constitution and that Congress
therefore may legislate broadly under this provision to protect the integrity of this
right.4
The Court has stated that the authority to regulate the “times, places and
manner” of federal elections:

and for presidential

quote:

While the power of Congress to regulate Presidential elections is not as
extensive as the power over House and Senate elections,7
Article II, §1, cl. 4 does
provide that Congress may determine the “time” of choosing presidential electors.
The Congress has established this date, by statute, as the “Tuesday next after the first
Monday in November, in every fourth year succeeding every election of a President
and Vice President.”8
Although the Congress does not have the explicit authority to regulate other
aspects of Presidential elections beyond time, case law does indicate that the
Congress may have powers extending beyond establishing the time of choosing the
electors. For instance, the Supreme Court has allowed congressional regulation of
political committees which seek to influence Presidential elections, arguing that such
legislation is justified by the need to preserve the integrity of such elections. In
Burroughs v. United States,
9
the Supreme Court reasoned that:
[w]hile presidential electors are not officers or agents of the federal government,
they exercise federal functions under, and discharge duties in virtue of authority
conferred by, the Constitution of the United States. The President is vested with
the executive power of the nation. The importance of his election and the vital
character of its relationship to and effect upon the welfare and safety of the
whole people cannot be too strongly stated. To say that Congress is without
power to pass appropriate legislation to safeguard such an election from the
improper use of money to influence the result is to deny to the nation in a vital
particular the power of self protection. Congress, undoubtedly, possesses that
power, as it possesses every other power essential to preserve the department
and institutions of the general government from impairment or destruction,
whether threatened by force or by corruption.10
The power of Congress to protect the integrity of the Presidential election,
combined with its authority to set the time of election, would also seem to provide
the Congress the power to postpone elections because of a national emergency

So in jolly South Dakota I went shopping. Not a grain of TP in sight. No 9mm ammo either. None. Because I mostly own milsurp I did pick up .303 and M1 Carbine ammo. Bought some 12 gauge rounds too. My university is on second Spring Break right now but we are going on-line after that for two weeks. It's going to be a complete shitshow. I already know how I'm going to teach and my method will work great for me. But I have no idea how the rest of campus will work being that it's primarily a Engineering school. If you're in school and it's going on-line (and it should) it's going to be a mess.

I am completely shocked that Mike DeWine of all people has taken a great lead on this. My RWNJ facebook people already hate him and call him a RINO, so now they double hate him and think he's going to send the Ohio Natty Guard out to enforce and shoot people, or something. As an Ohio boy who grew up in the Ohio GOP, seeing this weeny little poo poo actually take the reins and provide a semblance of leadership is pretty amazing. The governor of this state, Moron Barbie, also known as Kristie Noem, is slow and hesitant to really do anything even though COVID is most definitely here.

My kid's goddamn Karate has not closed down yet. WTF? Just seems super irresponsible to stay open, especially at this stage.

It was weird that last weekend I was in DC for a Academic Seminar on spreading social justice from the classroom to the community and saw the COVID cases encroach on the city in real time. Hit DC proper as we all flew out last Sunday. That's about a week from "oh, it will be fine" to "SHUT IT ALL DOWN". The Indian chicken curry I had though, loving excellent. I watched the debate last night and wanted to know if my memory is incorrect. Biden has repeatedly stated that after Obama was elected that Obama turned to him and said "get those troops out of Iraq." I thought the reason we left was that we didn't negotiate a SOFA that would have allowed US troops to stay.
