Ok, so what happened to last Wednesday's show? Did Howard just up and run to Florida?

Anyway, show is old reruns again.

No way that Howard is leaving his house in the next month.

Yeah, and I guess he was serious about not doing shows from his house, despite having the equipment set up.

Well, that gets back to my question of where do you think he is holed up?

I would think NYC might be the safest, and that's where all the cats are.

Definitely pretty lovely. He went off last week about how he shouldn't have to come in and doesn't like doing the show remote and they should pay him to not be there. If they end up taking a month off for this and then do their usual "take the whole summer off", I will definitely bail and can't see anyone justifying paying anymore. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, H100/101 now is only the show, a very barebones WUS, and the heavily edited/repeat heavy Sternthology.

I hope SXM wises up and realizes they shouldn't be paying hundreds of millions of dollars for such low effort crap that gets no listeners. Howard clearly is angling for the Netflix interview show, as he's been doing since circa 2013, so I'm sure he'd spin it as him walking away and not vice versa, but it's really just time to pull the trigger and put the show out of its misery and no longer have to suffer this slow death.

As someone who doesn't miss an episode and actually pays for it, I agree. I still enjoy it but it has been going downhill rapidly. I would much rather they lock down on making the rest of year a victory lap and he can go on to whatever else he wants.

I don't see that being very successful. Most are going to watch thinking he'll have lesbians or prank calls but when they see it's just him interview Pam Anderson, they'll move on. I'm saying this as a Stern fan.

I'm a huge Letterman fan too and never watched his Netflix show due to time and while I love Dave, I just don't want to watch an interview for long. If Stern is going to do this then release 15-20 minute episodes.

If he does get it, I don't see if lasting long as Netflix seems to cancel everything after 2 seasons.

Oh, unquestionably. His stint on "AGT" should have been enough for him and his team to realize he is nearly completely irrelevant now, but he's still on this mission to rewrite history and make his legacy that of the "world's greatest interviewer" and not for all of his "I was out of my mind back then!" material that he's now trying to pretend never happened. That's what the book release and subsequent tour was -- an excuse for him to go out there on TV and try to show how he's evolved, that he isn't the Howard Stern you associate with strippers and lesbians, that women like Ellen love him and embrace him now for being a champion of women instead of a man who threw bologna at their asses.

I saw that all of the other major TV talk shows have gone on leave for at least a couple of weeks. Obviously Howard is different because there is no studio audience, but they do have a lot of staff in a small place and guests won't show, so I assume they will be dark for a while. After his rant last week, there is no question Howard is going to fight against doing any make up shows. I think the show count is in his contract, but this is a weird situation. My guess is that he will end up doing a few makeups that will be "Clean out the computer" shows with little/no prep and that is it. SXM probably wants to re-sign him, so they won't push too hard. And the chance of any shows from home is essentially nil. Fred said he can't use his soundboard from home and Howard would not let staff come set his home back up because he doesn't want it (and is so paranoid he wears gloves to get his newspaper because he thinks it will have coronavirus).

They barely have guests as it is so that doesn't really impact the show.

I'd be happy if they replayed entire shows from the golden era. Who needs Howard talking about his cats and trophy wife when you can hear four hours of goofing on Jackie or Gary, Fred being a Martian, Howard going to war with a rival DJ, a comedian sitting in for the news, and Billy West dropping n-bombs ten times a minute??

WYSP Studio Tapes
Complete tape notes 1.0 - 2017 Dec 05

This tape collection, so I was told, was thrown out from the WYSP 94.1 Philadelphia studios around the time they switched to sports talk in 2011. Someone saved them from the dumpster at the station studios (so I was told) and they passed thru several different sets of hands before being acquired and ripped. WYSP was Howard's first syndicated affiliate and aired the show from August 18, 1986 through his final FM show in December 2005.

The tapes, especially the earlier ones, are compilations of show clips. Thankfully, they are mostly sequential, and all confirmed dates of clips on the shows are listed in the descriptions. Whoever recorded these did a great job compiling immensely entertaining show moments. Heavy on Baba Booey and Jackie bashing/scrutinizing, heavy on Wack Pack, heavy on new market press conferences, light on celeb interviews and in-studio stripper/porn star antics although those are there too. If you want a nice compact 400+ hour "best of" collection of Howard’s show during what some would argue were the greatest years of his show (1990-1997) in absolutely crystal clear audio quality, check this collection out.

This collection includes almost the entire broadcast of the John DeBella's Ex-Wife Dial-A-Date (nearly three full hours) and also about three hours of the 1992 MTV Awards aftermath (the show Howard recorded live after the awards, and the analysis of the awards show once they returned to NYC). It also includes three hours of the Funeral Of Mark & Brian broadcast, the second-to-last funeral held by Stern (the last being the Cleveland Funeral of June 1994).

There's a text file with descriptions of each mp3 in the folder. It's 22 gigs.

Before the show "evolved", they used to do this. It was called Master Tape Theater.

Just go on YouTube, or, if you're more adventurous :pirate: you can find archives of 1994-2009 out there and listen to the material Howard wants to pretend never existed.

Not really. There are clips and compilations but you can't type in a specific date and get the four hour show. Also it sounds like poo poo because it's from a fan's 25 year old cassette tape transferred to low bitrate mp3.

That was done with such swiftness and precision that I've always assumed that it was part of his divorce decree.

But yeah, I think new listeners might be surprised at how often his first wife called into the show... she was just as big a part of the show as his parents were.
