Josh Lyman posted:So... buy Logitech for the webcams? The most expensive thing is that chair they all use that looks a bit like an aeron with LEDs. They also generally talk up their mouse and make sure the razor logo shows. They never show their webcam no idea what they use, and most viewers yell at a streamer that their $10 walmart mic sounds fine when they try and talk up the nice $200-500 mic they are using. (Seriously buy a nice mic in the $50-60 range it will last you for 20-30 years, same with good headphones, don't buy a headset the mic being movable like that is a recipe for the thing failing in under 4 years). I thought I was replying to a post in the general covid thread for some reason, not sure I'd actually go long on anything I mentioned, but that's what would be in view and being advertised by a streamer. Though I have seen some people chill all sorts of stuff from sponsors.

Friday Mar 13 was because of Trump's press conference. The other 3 may be legit but only represent ~2% moves in SPY.

I do think we are in for a bear market bounce, with option expiry we will see some weird movements for sure. I really hope we have another overnight limit down I think it will make for a perfect condition for a rally into friday.

The big take I got from Altman's interview is that we're not near an equities bottom yet. Back in 2008-2009 the buzz was around "capital preservation", getting into things that would keep your little pile from getting smaller, not aggressively looking for things not likely to pay off for several months or years. There was very little talk about 3 to 5 year time horizon investing. Until people I see on these shows talk about preservation and not aggressive investment, we still have further to fall.

The vote on the first stimulus bill is happening right now if you care to watch. It's not the helicopter money one yet, so it might not cause that big of a reaction, but who knows!

Tokyo Sex Whale posted:WTF is up with DFS? I mean I know consumer credit is not going to perform great here but is there some sort of underlying issue with how they fund themselves or something? Down almost 2/3 in 3 weeks. DFS is heavily heavily exposed to subprime consumer revolving debt, a bunch of which may charge off. They also appear to be heavily reliant upon higher cost brokered funding sources than other Banks. 85% of revenue was from interest income.

ketchup vs catsup posted:listening to the Bill Ackman 'rant' right now, he seems remarkably lucid A shutdown wouldn't eliminate the virus, and it would still get here from abroad once the quarantine ended. Imagine the panic of a 30-day national shutdown, let alone one that didn't work. Capitalism won't shut down if the alternative is to tell the vulnerable members of society to lay low for three months. The machine will inevitably grind on even if 1% die from it. It goes without saying that this is awful any way you slice it.

I expect a slow bleed down for casino stocks from here on out with dead cat bounces all the way down. Once the biggest casino operator or regional casino operators start declaring bankruptcy in mid to late May/June/July, then the rest of the casino stocks will get swept up and start trading below $1. The first one to go will be $RRR, $CZR, or $PENN, likely in that order. $RRR has the most debt and is a purely regional casino operator and doesn't have as big of a credit line and is a small fish. $CZR has more wiggle room but much more debt. $PENN has less debt but more national exposure.
