My buddy delivers beer for a living here in Illinois. All his deliveries to the bars have stopped, so I expected he'd be less busy than normal. Likewise, with all our 25,000 students being gone. Nope. Apparently gas stations are doing crazy amounts of beer sales, and he's busier than ever. I can see if I can get numbers from him.

Beachcomber posted:Why does it matter how many people are in your car? My wife stays in the car, but running errands during the apocalypse is a little stressful and it's nice not to be alone driving. Because you are supposed to go shopping alone according to new rules. Also all gatherings of more than 2 people are forbidden (excepted the household of course). So unless you are driving someone to the doc, you are not supposed to be in a car with someone else unless it's your spouse/kid. So in your case it's considered OK Of course there will be exceptions left to the appreciation of the officer, but that's the general idea e: I think what's important to understand is that they needed a rule to allow them to take sanctions when people are being purposely uncivil, like young people making parties etc, so the rule is there to allow officers to fine you in those cases, not if you are doing something that's not putting others at risk. A lot of people out walking last night in my town in france, which is unsurprising because we finally had some good weather. Unfortunate that the good weather happened to come now, and the cops were out driving around after dark I guess to check on everyone's handwritten notes.

So glove manufacturers state the gloves are good for 5-10 years. FDA though requires hospitals to perform in house testing to assess actual life. In reality it's 6 months to 2 1/2 years in climate controlled conditions. The gloves get chalky, integrity breaks down, and they are no good. I'm not as familiar with the masks but they have the rubber strap get brittle and break. The largest mask manufacturer in the US ramped up for SARS 10 years ago, hired 150 people, all these hospitals bought a shitload of masks for $0.04 / mask then the moment the crisis was over they bailed for the $0.02 / mask imports. Now they are requiring hospitals to sign a 5 years contract so they don't get poo poo on and have to lay off hundreds of people so a hospital can save pennies. The bigger issue is the required quantity on hand for daily operation vs pandemic operation. They may need 10 times normal operating requirements that they have to be willing to let rot in a warehouse and buy more. Not saying that's bad, but like you said, the JIT mindset is shaking things up as JIT can't handle any disruptions.

I went to the store on Tuesday to get ingredients for a coddle and the beer cooler was hit hard. Mostly 24 packs. Also, gun and ammo sales are apparently nuts right now. People are afraid of looting, which is caused by panic buying and hoarding. Can you imagine roving gangs of toilet paper thieves coming through your neighborhood? Apparently lots of people can.

The precentages for mild/ICU and the breakdown in death rates between Hubei and China outside of Hubei line up too well with the more recent S. Korean and Italian data to be pure bullshit. The CCCP is almost certainly lying, but they aren't distorting things by that much. Otherwise the late Feb Chinese data wouldn't match so well with the March non-Chinese data.
