I've got Doom Eternal pre-loaded, it's supposed to unlock at 9PM Pacific on Thursday night, and I'll have work until about midnight or so. If I leave my computer on with Steam running, will it automatically begin the decryption process at 9 and be ready to play when I get home, or will I have to hit Play to start it? If it's the latter, can I do that from the Android Steam app?

I've never done the early VPN unlock thing but I think I would like to do so for Doom Eternal today, given the circumstances. If I've bought the game and it's preloaded is it as simple as just connecting to a Hong Kong VPN or whatever and launching Steam? Do I have to stay connected to it as long as I want to play before it releases here, or just initially for the early unlock?

A big part of their motivation in splitting with Activision was apparently to have more control over deadlines etc in order to keep a sane work environment for their staff

A really weird experience on the web version of Steam, looking at the activity log. A goon friend, Mierenneuker, had posted a few screenshots from The Witcher 2, but it looked like one had a censor filter added, but a new one, and not the usual stuff with a black bar:  Never seen that before, so I of course clicked it:  Huh? Is this a new thing in Steam settings? Seems like it's in the Steam account preferences, but I don't recall seeing this before and at first I thought it was Augmented Steam doing it. The picture itself didn't have any warnings when looking at the details, so I guess all pics uploaded are being sent to Amazon and Google for scanning? Anyway, the picture in question was this one:

Wow, and to think I didn't even post screenshots of one of the sex scenes. There's six of them. Actually, does the sorceress spanking her apprentice count as seven? But what can I say, I love dwarfs that sound like a crusty sailor.  Edit: I really need to up in-game brightness more instead of changing the brightness of my monitor. I finished Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and it was excellent throughout. 18 and a half hours playtime in my save. I’m at 98% total completion, largely because I have been unable to find who needs a small bag for the Hand to Hand quest. I bought all Lupo’s upgrades and still have a mountain of spirit light so the reward wasn’t an issue, but I’d like to finish that at some point. I must have spoken to all but one of the NPCs at this point and I have no idea who I need to go to. Still really love the movement in this game, it’s a huge joy just getting around and styling on enemies.

Anyone having any luck VPNing for Doom Eternal? I've tried using NordVPN servers in Australia and Singapore and for both of them it just said "Game unlocks March 19" and didn't even try to unlock. Yeah I ended up paying $2 for an NZ VPN from Windscribe, never done it before but it was super easy. Also I think if you're willing to buy on the Windows Store instead of Steam you can get an early unlock REALLY easily there by just changing your windows system settings to another region.

I had lovely internet when human revolution came out and ended up deleting my preload since it was quicker to redownload it at 1MB/sec than let it decrypt. Their decryption has always been pretty slow.
