Is reducing the bitrate even necessary across all of Europe? I haven't heard about any internet capacity problems here. Maybe just reduce bandwith for countries with bad infrastructure.

I have some friends and family who went on a panic buying spree and their fridge, cupboards, closets, etc are packed to the brim. They don't have the space to continue buying stuff and have stopped buying stuff as far as I know. Stores here are still rapidly selling out of the usual suspects (tp, milk, bread), but other items seem to have somewhat normal-ish selection available and the lines in store are still higher than normal but nothing insane. Hopefully everyone else slows down too and things can calm down some. I have a chest freezer that I use to lager beer at controlled temperatures. I had to convert it to a toilet paper freezer. So now I can only make ales, for the time being. Sigh.

Yeah, my internet here in Finland is fast as ever so this seems pretty pointless. And even if it was a bit slower what is the big deal? The internet doesn't break if there are more people using more bandwith, it's just slower. At least I contributed to the cause by downloading Doom Eternal just now

With Netflix slowing down in Europe it's a good time to get the word out early to hoard wifi signals before a) They run out, and b) They become infected.

My mom went to the store (Vancouver BC) at opening this morning to try and buy staples, hasn't been able to buy eggs or milk for a week. Store has instituted a markup for more than 2 of a staple, but it's a joke. Dude had 8 dozen eggs, 8 gallons of milk, 3 crates of pasta sauce and a full flat of spaghetti in his cart. Told he would be charged an extra $300 and he paid it without blinking. My mom did not get eggs or milk today.

I get that's it's probably because and the store wants its money, but wouldn't it make more sense to just institute a hard limit so more people could get staples? I guess at least if people are hoarding they'll hopefully stay home after and not come out often but there's no guarantee for that either.

Canada has had possibly the worst response to all of this even beyond the USA, so far, so the lack of any firm enforcement to protect vulnerable people is entirely unsurprising to me. My nation is a shithole.

They were relying on limping until consoles and making bank on them since most people prefer to buy them in person. Right now I'm not sure people have PS5 money until 2021/2022.

I said come in! posted:Italy just surpassed China for deaths, totaling 3400 and climbing so far. The United States is not far behind right now in hitting those kind of numbers. We will start seeing our death counts reaching this number sometime this weekend or next Monday. *Reported* deaths. I can't remember if it was this thread that posted the letters from survivors about people in Wuhan being left to die at home rather than being taken to hospitals, when they had all the symptoms, and just being barricaded into their homes to quietly die there where they wouldn't need to be counted. Let alone all the extremely narrow criteria for being counted as dying because of COVID-19 rather than 'pneumonia' or 'respiratory illness', and thereby not reported as being connected to the non-existent pandemic that wasn't happening. This is why most of the people posting here about 'China' not being a trustworthy actor in all of this from the start, very much including their current numbers, has been aimed at government officials, and not your average Chinese person. Thanks so much, Trump, your capacity for racism is one of your few extraordinary capabilities, alongside blame-shifting and a complete lack of anything resembling shame. Good luck, Italy. And good luck to you too, America. I don't want anyone to suffer because of this, no matter how terrible their leaders might be.
