Working from home meant I hadn't really seen how hosed a lot of stuff is, but holy poo poo. I walked down one of London's major shopping streets today because I had to go to the office and everything is just dead. Everywhere that wasn't a supermarket was either almost empty or straight up closed down.

Like, I can't specifically mourn most of these businesses and the more expensive ones in particular are gross beacons of excess, but this is a pretty loving horrible way for it to crash and the people who are really hurt are the people working in them, not the people buying stupidly expensive poo poo in them or the people taking all the profits.

It's pretty hosed and I'm feeling far less optimistic than I was this morning.

I haven't been out of my house since the 9th, it will be very strange when I go to the grocery store on Monday, I presume.

As someone who has still had to leave the house to go to work every weekday, I was more surprised by how many people were still out tbh. Especially because I work near Boston where the whole Biogen thing happened.

For every boss that won't give paid time off to staff you'll find a bunch of people who have to go to work if they want to keep eating.

Same. I was expecting traffic in the morning to be non existent, but it barely seemed any lighter than normal
