I always wear my wedding ring. It's my trademark.

Still not sure if I really understand the possible impact of this witch thing on the market, but I do know that I'm staying out tomorrow. Maybe I'll buy a bucket of popcorn and just watch the show, if I can still find any.

My bad. I'll probably never grow out of using "retarded" as a colloquialism - where I grew up it was never used to refer to anyone with an actual disability. It was always used as a derogatory term, usually self-deprecating, for someone who has fully-developed mental faculties and absolutely no excuse for doing really dumb things, but goes and does them anyway. So it's tough for me to put it into a context where it might be considered offensive.

Lmao, that will do next to nothing. Mortgage/Rent, bills, groceries, health insurance. Pick 2. That'll maybe pay for 2, right? Unless this check is gonna be monthly, what the gently caress were they thinking?

What happened to the Dem's $6,000 bailout idea? That would do something.

That's 70% of the population, if that's spread out over 18 months, that's fine. If that's over 3 months.... half a million people are going to die.

ehhh, it's not exactly "fine". But also, every state should be planning for what to do in the worst case scenarios, that doesn't mean that's what they think is definitely going to happen.

Fidelity doesn't

Error:(008783) The security in your order trades in decimal increments of .01 (two decimal positions). Please change your Limit/Stop price based on the following guidelines:
Limit/Stop prices of $1 and greater for Listed Stocks (stocks with symbols of 3 letters or less, excluding preferred stocks) and NASDAQ securities (stocks with symbols of 4 letters or more) can be entered with a maximum of 2 decimal places (such as 25.12 or 100.37). Some Listed Stocks only trade in whole dollars.
Limit/Stop prices less than $1 for all securities can be entered with a maximum of 4 decimal places (such as .973 or .3705).

Putting in like 60.00.01 gives me
Limit Amount must be a positive number.

I checked my spreadsheet. This was the last time I did it:
pre:
Stock	Price Date No. Shares	Fee	Gross	Net	Sale Price	Date No. Shares	Fee	Cash	Gross Net
TDW	$10.74900	11/05/15	25 $9.99	$268.73	$278.72	6.8985 12/31/15	25 $0.00	$172.46	($96.26)	($106.25)
So I paid $10.749, probably to undercut buy orders that were at $10.75, and I sold for $6.8985, probably to get in front of sellers asking $6.90.

Trump administration’s plea to states: Keep mum about unemployment stats.
The Trump administration is asking state labor officials to delay releasing the precise number of unemployment claims they are fielding, an indication of how uneasy policymakers are about further roiling a stock market already plunging in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In an email sent Wednesday, the Labor Department instructed state officials to only “provide information using generalities to describe claims levels (very high, large increase)” until the department releases the total number of national claims next Thursday.

The email, which was shared with The New York Times, noted that the reports were monitored closely by financial markets and should therefore remain embargoed. “States should not provide numeric values to the public,” wrote Gay Gilbert, the administrator of the department’s Office of Employment Insurance.

What a day to be in cat jail. Interesting one, right? I picked up some stuff out of the trash can this morning:
  • BTI - British American Tobacco. 8.5% yield, prefer it to MO because it didn't way overpay for Juul. Might pick up some PM too.
  • DHT - DHT Holdings. This is basically an oil tanker company. Rates on these things have soared and with the market in heavy contango you might see tankers used as floating storage again.
  • BOE - BlackRock Enhanced Global Dividend Trust. This is a closed end fund with quality names in it (JNJ, KO, UL, NSRGY, etc.) that got blown out to a 20% discount vs. NAV (it's more often around 10%). It currently yields 10.5%. Problem is, it's a small fund and a pain in the rear end to trade even in pretty small sizes. It also juices returns with derivatives, which is obviously a double-edged sword but I'm fine with that at the moment.
  • XLF - Financial Select Sector ETF. Basically "the banks and Berkshire." I think people have been scarred by 2008; these names fell too hard and, assuming we don't go into a bona fide depression--that might be a dumb assumption--the banks should be okay, and I expect Uncle Warren to do just fine. Would really like to see the long end of the curve move up a little though.
  • PGF - Invesco Financial Preferred ETF. Similar to the above, this is an ETF for bank preferreds. In a non-inflationary, low rate environment where the banks remain solvent this should work nicely and it benefits from the lower tax rate on dividends (as opposed to interest income). Yields 6% at the price I got it and around 5.3% now.
I'm probably too early on these buys.

Energy had a nice day. It pushed up the NSS I bought yesterday by like 40%. :stare:

A big part of where we go next is going to be dependent on politics. From what I've seen of the GOP Senate plan so far it's not enough, and poorly targeted. I'm still net short, but less so than I was yesterday.
