The government has made some changes to the mutual obligation requirements for those on a JobSeeker payment. Luke Henriques-Gomes will have more on that for you in just a moment, but the main points are: Jobseekers will have the option to request that face-to-face meetings with their job service providers take place over the phone or via an online channel such as Skype; Jobseekers will be able to complete activities such as online training, creating job plans, writing a CV and preparing job applications online; Job plans will be adjusted to a default requirement of four job searches a month (or fewer, at provider discretion) to reflect the softening labour market conditions. Work for the dole and other activities delivered in group settings that cannot be delivered online will be suspended until further notice; Jobs fairs and other large events will be postponed; Job service providers will be required to perform new risk assessments for a range of activities like youth jobs path internships.

Hours for our manufacturing division got cut today. My hours have been modified, so we can have a staggered roster, which kinda works out great for me cause I get to have a sleep-in. IT coming in Monday to setup VPN so we have a proper WFH policy in place. Very real possibility that we're going to have to let some people go if poo poo doesn't stabilise real loving soon. Front counter is going cashless, and ANYONE coming through the door that isn't a staff member has to sign their name+number so we can contact them incase of an outbreak. My inbox is swamped with vendors and their brand new Coronavirus Policy, which all parrot the exact same nonsense, that will all likely be useless come Monday when they need to issue new ones. It's been a REALLY long loving week, I am stressed the gently caress out, and I really loving wish I had a weed guy right about now.

If you are struggling to get into work mode at home try setting up a space that is dedicated to and is like your office. If you have a room you can dedicate then do that (which is what I do) if not try relocating homely sentimental things away from where you are working. Also try to use a proper office chair and desk, don't sit on the couch and expect to be focused. Music is also great for blocking out distractions at home. Chuck on some headphones or earbuds and put some chill music on that helps you focus. There are some great playlists on Spotify for this. The other thing is try to keep your routine the same including stopping work and "packing up" at the same time as usual. Don't be tempted to keep working later than normal. Also get up and get dressed into something other than your PJs when you start as well. I've been working from home for a few years now, this is what helps me. I've been pretty slack on exercise though so that's the next thing I'm going to tackle. I'm thinking for either going for a walk or salvaging the exercise bike in my garage for it.

No real escalation of measures to reduce spread today, (must be 4m sq separated to hold events of 100 loving lol policed by who) which means even in a thread where everyone is talking about this thing and awareness should by higher than the average Australian you still have people going to weddings this weekend. Which means it is absolutely going to be as bad as Italy here. Even though we can see what is coming we are just ignoring it. yikes.

Picking up a really weird, brittle vibe in public at the moment. Going to the pub last night felt like attending a low-key wake.

I'm "lucky" that I've managed to acrew more than term of sick leave since I came on board but the situation is honestly odd. My partner is immunocomprimised and while I'm expected to keep turning up to work I'm scared that I'll get it and then pass it on which won't be at all good

I think that last part bears repeating. The jukebox also plays porno. Imagine the pub, but with porn, and you can crank one out in way more places without getting in trouble. Sound like a dream? thats your house bro.

I'm going to a wedding but everyone is fairly low risk. On the plus side it gets me out of Sydney for a weekend where the risk is I see another oval office trying to stock up on TP or other food and end up in lockup for spear tackling them into the shelves

I was just at the butchers and I think they were getting ready to shut down from tomorrow. Got into a bit of a conversation, where some guy was saying that he'd heard if everyone stayed home for a week it'd be over. The head butcher's position was "well, why don't they? that doesn't seem too bad". I told him that people would die. His response was "oh, yeah, well the small percentage..." and I cut him off to clarify that that was not talking about people with the virus. That was fires going unanswered, domestic violence calls going unanswered, people already in need of care dying etc. I don't know why, I don't usually challenge people two feet taller and thirty years older than myself in conversation. Maybe it's because I found out today I'm in essential services and I won't be losing my job like most of his staff probably will. I don't feel great.
