Preservation on both guns is for surviveability (unless there's a talent I missed that returns armor on skill kills?).

The setup is this, I toss my maxxed out poke-balls, they kill stuff. Pop maxed striker-drone, its off buzzing around killing stuff and the calculated talent ensures I get my seekers back quick. Hard-wire is for the bonuses and that initial HW insta-skill-return and damage boost. All my Utility mods are skill-haste.

Would I be better off with Hanna-U instead of HW? I was thinking of swapping the chest out for Door-Kickers-Knock (Perfect Spark). I was using Tartigrade for my main armor, may go back (would "Zero-F's" be better?), I was also using a Perfect-Spike rifle but it bounces all over the place and can't score consistent headshots.

The big problems I have is if I get caught in a bad place, my survivability isn't great and I have real problems with chain-gun heavies.

I want more survivability and more space Clancy-Mil-Tech wizard.

the game is in a bad place regarding soloability right now. Hybridizing for damage will probably just make you bad at both skills and gun damage. Like if you don't specialize you'll just end up in a worse spot and no build has all the tools to handle everything right now. I'm not an expert on hardwired but if you're using it you should make the most out of the built in cooldown refresh that comes with it. If you're not using it you're probably better off with a high end skill damage/skill haste build. Do not waste your talents on spark if you're not specced for gun damage.

One think you can do as a very slight hybridization is getting yourself one of the weapon bonus pieces like fenris so you get more out of your AR. Since you're running technician you'd still get tier 6.

I’m all reds and doing fine on challenging for the most part. The only time I die are when the game decides I need to die. This tends to happen in the following ways:

- When doing an activity, several other activities will just happen to spawn/wander into where I am and kill me. If I’m doing a control point, then I will absolutely also have to deal with supply convoys and elite patrols.
- Also when doing an activity, the additional waves will spawn directly on/behind me because even though most have multiple locations to spawn from, choose the one I’m by means I’ll loving die.
- I get caught without ammo because even though my ammo indicator now reads 100, the animation didn’t fully play out and you decided to do literally anything else. guess what idiot turns out you didn’t reload. gently caress you now die.
- Hi I’m a black tusk robot dog. I don’t give a fuuuuuuuck about anything I’m going to run around you and shoot you repeatedly.

Heavies are a big problem but you can spam them down with sniper turrets. If there are multiple heavies I kill everything else then blinder/turret until they're dead.

Hardwired (if you work around the bugs... I never did the testing or built a set) is great because you can drop all skill haste and still get 10 second resets on seekers. You need half the godrolls but you lose a lot of flexibility in what skills you can use.

Running a brand set with China/Hana/WW lets you get Skilled on the chest, either (Perfect) Shock and Awe or Tech Support on the backpack, and then you can swap skills around for whatever is fashionable in a given encounter. Seekers/Sniper is what I'm using 90% of the time but there are so many fights where swapping one out for sticky/blinder/jammer/etc is key. The downside is you need all the godrolls on top of the talents, so enjoy constantly farming crafting mats.

Survivability doesn't exist right now. You stay in cover and run backwards when they rush you. I did the entire final encounter of invaded White Oak without actually seeing what I was hitting because I was inside the house. Everything that approached the stairs died horribly and the final sniper lost a battle against my turret.

Grats on your tough knees.

I looked at the league thing in game, and as soon as I saw it was doing missions on challenging under x time I knew I wasn't going to get a single rank in this league unless it was by accident doing the burn or kill elite parts.

Hell, I have a hard time with hard content, let along challenging or giving me a time limit. Clearly this league thing isn't for a bad player like me, unlike the manhunt thing for Neptune, which I was able to do solo without any real problem.

do it anyway, you have two weeks to get it done. Like if you get to rank 30 this week it will reset and you will only need to get to rank 30 again next week. Killing/burning outcasts are 20 points alone, you can definitely scrounge 10 points out of the rest.

There's also sub ranks to the mission time trials. So you'll see people talking about doing a sub-16 minute DCD center but that's actually only the final, most difficult stage for that challenge. There are 10 stages with tiers at a bunch of different par times. I tried Potomac Event Center solo and still got awarded 8 out of the 10 stages even though I missed the part time by like 3 minutes.

The Hardwired chest and backpack are currently bugged. You won't get the bonus skill damage from the chest and you won't get the bonus skill cooldown from the backpack. I believe only the right slot works correctly on cooldown reset as well. I've mostly given up on skill builds because unfortunately they are just under powered damage wise compared to red builds, but before I swapped to an all red build I spent a lot of time trying to perfect a skill set.

Unless you really want the 20 second cooldown on your seekers I would suggest dropping hardwired. 1 piece china light, 1 piece wyvern wear, 2 piece hanna u is the best mix of damage and skill cooldown you can get. I also like the percussive maintenance backpack for 25% skill damage on skill kill but acostas or a backpack with combined arms isn't bad either. For max damage get skilled on your chest, If you want a bit more survivability you can drop to 5 yellow (since you're technician) and then run a blue/red chest with unbreakable on it which will give you an extra armor bar every 60 seconds. Also look to get spiked or perfect spiked on a gun for even more skill damage.

Finally a warning about the drone. Striker drone is great fun until you get to challenging. Once you're on challenging and above enemies will just constantly target it and insta kill it making it unplayable. The turret is a good replacement and tends to last a lot longer, though it requires setup.

I really hope Massive takes a look at skills and makes some real adjustments / buffs, but considering how many bugs and broken things are currently in the game I'm not expecting anything any time soon.

The name changes in DC were amusing to me, especially the specific names they chose to use like renaming the Raegan International Trade Center to the Jefferson Trade Center. The major memorials around the Lincoln like the Vietnam Veterans and Korean War memorials are non-existent and the Black Tusk hovercraft completely bulldozed the MLK and FDR memorials.

Can't help but imagine the grounds around the Capitol Building opening up so they can add stages for the Library of Congress and Supreme Court.

This is great info, I didn't realize BOTH the chest and backpack for HW were bugged. I've since started seeking out a decent Hana-U chest and the Skilled talent (the only chest talent not in my library).

I'm not aiming for challenging, just fun solo-ing for now but thanks for the info on higher difficulty.

I must say, as much as I like playing right now, I feel like a big part of that is just figuring out new builds for the "new" specializations (haven't played since...."Gunner"?). The "manhunts" aren't going to be enough to keep me around. I hope Massive has something else planned to keep the seasons fresh (events don't cut it) like new sections of Lower Manhatten being unlocked.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I was an admitted Central Park truther for the Div1, and that never happened. I'm not hold out a lot of hope.

You don't want Hana for mod slot pieces due to the red slot. You can recal slots, but that means getting an impossible skill+haste+Skilled roll on the chest.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do I do non-invaded missions?

I just got back into the game after stopping shortly after launch and I want to unlock Gunner, which requires killing Lt. Kelly in the A&S Museum mission. But right now it's Black Tusk everywhere.

That aside, how are the different specializations? Is everything fairly balanced these days?

You have to beat the invaded version first, then you can choose between Invaded and Normal from the difficulty settings for the mission. Or you can wait until next week for the invaded missions to change.

Yeah, the specialisations are all pretty balanced. Pick whichever complements your build. Gunner is good for tanky builds.

Oh cool. Well here's the other Pestilence annoyance: a weaker stack of the dot can overwrite a stronger stack instead of combining or just refreshing the stronger stack. The stack also works really loving weird with robots/drones

You can't apply the stack on robots or drones (intended) but for some reason it can pass from human targets to them (maybe not intended?).

It's less that and more than drones and robots have weird "deaths" in the sense that the stack sometimes doesn't jump from them, or in the case of the sniper drone, it just falls through the ground then explodes making it too far to pass on to anything else.

Striker by itself works but apparently some hits won’t register meaning you’ll miss even when you hit. I’ve had it work just fine against targets like tanks or robodogs.

I usually just roll some of the named weapons like Sleipner or The Send Off to try to get some big attributes. Or armor pieces I need to mildly improve in builds I already have. It almost never happens but what else am I going to do with that stuff.

You should be recalibrating your stuff to improve your builds. Pretty much all crafting is sorta bad at the moment, but if you need a piece to close out a build, you can at least throw some materials down the drain for that.

I looked it up and it was again something to do with the Crusader shield. If you equipped the shield, then interacted with a mounted minigun, then got off the minigun (which re-equipped the shield) it would add damage over and over to your weapon. You could do it as long as you wanted. As long as you didn’t log out the damage would stay - fast traveling to anywhere, including the DZ, did not reset the damage. And it did not appear you had to keep the shield out to use the damage.
