I don't think that has happened in the US yet but it has in other countries. Or maybe that was people coming back from out of the country flights and cruises. Missus and I had diner at home with her eldest son and his girlfriend last night, we're not sure if that's likely to happen again anytime soon. A wonderful night that ended with begging them, a tear in the eye, to come hunker down at our place if we're not allowed to leave our homes at all anymore.

Now mom wants me to go shopping because we only have 3 months worth of stuff. Which she says is only 2 months but is really 4 months if poo poo gets dire. I'm not risking us so she can have fresh milk every week. It ain't happening. It's the oddest thing that I'm not worried so much as DETERMINED. We are so effing lucky to not have to leave and I refuse to squander this. The isolation is nothing to me, I've been self isolating since 2006.  Its surreal that the one possible way that could be helpful has come to pass

If you are in a car, they will ask for a document saying where you come from, where you go, and when. if they find you are breaking the law, you can be fined something between. $600 and $10000. If anyone wants video games to distract them from excessive drinking, worrying etc, then the new season of Path of Exile just started. 60 hours this week and not a beer drunk. Free to play too. I have to keep reminding myself as it's great and doesn't make you spend money Also free, and good is Warframe. More shooty, and also suitably complicated, so easy to get lost in.

I’d like to share some positive things: -I found both yeast and flour at the store along with everything I need to distance myself. I’ve always wanted to learn how to bake so now is going to be the time to learn something new and useful. -I’m excited to start practicing the piano again, something I’ve been putting off because of life. -My friend who lost her paycheck to paycheck job was taken in by her close friend’s family who has a house in a small town on the coast. Her messages to me have shifted from dread and fear to pictures of nature and happy sentiments. -I talked to my parents today because we always have differing opinions on current events. They’re taking it seriously and are stocked, home, practicing good social distancing and constantly planning for when things get worse. I’m so proud of them.

So I'm not actually sure if my work is actually supposed to be open right now. I'm a small animal veterinarian in California. I thought that veterinarians were essential but California declared a lockdown for everyone except their 16 essential sectors. When i look at the website the closest thing would be food/agriculture but technically we're not working with livestock so... i don't know, apparently some vet clinics around here have closed. We are still open though. I'm part of a corporation too so we're going by their guidance mostly. We are wearing ppe with pets and only having clients drop off the pets, no exam room appointments. Part of me wonders if this ppe is needed by our medical colleagues and we shouldn't be using it (and should close instead). This is all so crazy

We had to take our ear-infection-prone dog to the vet on Tuesday and they had the doors locked and a staff member would physically take the leash from you and take the animal in while you waited in your car. That was the first big departure from normal I saw and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

The Republicans busted out 2008's greatest hits - a one time payment, means-tested to hell and most of the poor get less money or no money at all, but paired with a massive bailout of corporations. And if you want another $600 dollar payment don't worry industry needs half a trillion more in bailouts the next month. Also the health insurance requirements for business are going to be waived. Republicans have never been the party of the working class, they certainly aren't going to start now, they would love another crash to ramp wealth and income inequality through the roof.
