Sounds like I need to launder the money (sorry).

I don’t have coins, but putting notes in an envelope is a good idea. The cash has been in a drawer for a week so I might scrub my hands, put the money in an envelope and then write on it explaining what I’ve done.

Most but not all of them had ingredient labels on from an importer, like you'd usually see in the Polish section of a supermarket (or at Americandy) so I'd bet after the Great Raid a few days ago someone in management or supply just rang every warehouse to see what they had, and these would have otherwise been destined for the Americandy in Highcross. Strange times.

They probably sell them at the larger co-ops, most larger size supermarkets have a small yank section now.

They know exactly what carers. But they want to make sure they can’t be held responsible for anything, so they’ll give guidance like that. Not their fault if the carers REFUSE to follow it!

Could be. I've never seen them even in the big Co-Op a few miles away though (but I don't often go there). It was a bit surreal because it wasn't even marked 'American Foods' or a little flag or something, I was just walking past from the freezer bit towards the checkout and thought I'd see if there was anything left on clearance, and got a sense of "I vaguely know of these. These do not belong here."

Yeah, I think that’s probably fairly reflective of the population. If ‘normal’ people can’t get tested they’ll go through just like these footballers, have it and never even realise. It’s only because the clubs have managed to get them tested.

it's due to misunderstanding pre-symptomatic (aka the infection is detected but hasn't caused noticeable symptoms yet). give it time

So southend is still full of people not doing isolation at all. Went and did some woodland work and as I drove back through town it looked like a normal weekday morning, even with many shops closed I guess people were just loving walking the high street to huff chronic covid clouds for kicks.

I think you're being a tad optimistic about the time scale

counter-intuitively, the virus taking a long time (ie a year or more) is a best case scenario. that's what happens if we really manage to flatten the curve.

we are doing an incredibly poor job of preventing spread, which means we're currently on the path towards doing the opposite by spiking it and ensuring everyone who gets sick does so in a very short period of time. many, many people will die - looking at the current annual fatality rate is really deceiving because it discounts all of the people who survived due to medical intervention - but assuming that the post-infection immunity that is being reported holds the surviving population would be able to return to normalcy much faster.

we can still course correct as it's still manageable with significant intervention but the longer we dawdle the worse it will be.

I have no idea. The 1.5million people who are going to be 'shielded' by being told to stay at home for 12 weeks hasn't been fully revealed. People I know with various severity of asthma are posting that some dosage of steroid (the brown one!) list was just released so they will be able to tell whther theyll be contacted this week to tell them to stay in for that kind of time. But I can't find much about it and the asthma website has crashed which suggests something has happened.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been some kind of generic leaflet through everyone's door with information/guidance for awareness, since there are people who don't watch the news at all or use social media much (or only consume news that is misleading at best). But I guess maybe the situation is moving too fast for that?

Am I the first one in the thread to have the rona?

I’ve been absolutely self isolated for 12 days and now am at “making turnip crisps on twitter”.

Minicurve’s class had a Typhoid Mary who decided to hold off on telling her parents till she was near collapse, because she didn’t want to miss her mock exams, and had already passed whatever it was to mini and then me - she tested positive for coronavirus and has had to do the text message circle of shame.

No coughs, mini had a very high temp and both of us have had dizziness, fatigue and oh god my bones hurt.

It’s the waves you will learn to hate, mini has had this thing for two weeks, thought she was over it and then felt like poo poo again today.

I started feeling vaguely crappy/slightly shivery early last week. Had a fever for about 24 hours on Friday, thats gone now (hopefully) but still shivery and fatigued and achy with a slightly sore throat. And yeah, annoyingly, it does tend to come and go. I havent been tested for it so it could just be regular flu buuuuut

This is exactly what I thought, kept making jokes about not sure if rona or iron deficiency and bought in the tablets. Evidently not, the waves of dizziness are absolutely typical it would seem, it’s just that the media is focusing on the cough as a main symptom.

Footballers are apparently very susceptible to catching things like this virus because they push their bodies into the "red zone" physically.

I thought they would be incredibly healthy but apparently not. Their immune systems get wrecked.

Yeah but the McDs structure would make that so difficult to enforce because you get tons of people hanging around in front of the counter waiting and they won't spare the staff to shoo them away from all the seating.

I thought the 'sports people have weak health' was the lie used for why they have all the medical stuff in their system which fixes asthma or whatever but also just happens to be a bit of a performance enhancer.
