Another funny story I remember is more or less something akin to this: Thurston Moore once asked Mascis to play a bunch of leads on his second solo record and when Mascis asked him about what was expected of him for one of the solos, Thurston went  "How about something like Slayer's 'Angel of Death'?"J Mascis basically did just that and Thurston is all like  "gently caress! Uh, no just... y'know"So important morale of the story: Mascis is most definitely not a one-trick pony.

Kinda stupid but kinda cool poo poo. These are two Mako branded Strat copies, with a factory EVH knock-off paint job from the early 80s. Made by Samick in Korea. Not mine, unfortunately.   Look closely at the patterns, they do not match up exactly because these were hand taped and sprayed. Chances are you can even see overspray and spots where the paint bled under the masking tape. I know I can see it on my Hondo copy of a Fender Lead I. Also a factory paint job, but this one as made by Tokai in Japan.  Korean labor in the 80s was so cheap you could afford to have that kind of manual work done for what was essentially a low-end guitar.

the bleed through makes it more authentic than most evh stripe paint jobs fun fact: he used gaffer tape instead of masking tape. if you look up close at the actual guitar, there's little ridges in the line edges
