I did see a report from a health minister in one of the only (if not THE only) countries to have zero confirmed cases. His straightforward explanation for why was: "We have zero testing kits."

No, health officials at the CDC and WHO are well aware that the death toll is much higher than this, but only official numbers are being reported. Russia, and China are absolutely hiding their real numbers, and then a whole bunch of development countries are just simply unable to report accurately. Starting at 4pm today, there will be police checkpoints controlling in/out travel between 8 regions of the province of Quebec. All non-essential travel forbidden. City of Montreal soon to enact the same, they've been talking about doing it for a few days now. The island will be locked.

Obvious hot take: trusting a freer society like South Korea is a better bet than trusting numbers out of China. Numbers in France, Spain, and Italy will be even closer to the numbers that we will see, and our outcomes should be worse for two reasons: 1) We don't have a healthcare system worth a drat, and 2) Donald John Trump is an idiot Our only hope is Federalism, and that the governors of their respective states are capable of making better decisions than at the Federal level.
