The only real metric is deaths.

The death rate is funny too. Lots of ways to massage that number. We won't really get a good idea of what happened until 5-10 years after the fact

This is kind of an interesting wrinkle:

to the best of my knowledge 2019-nCov2 doesn't live in your blood so therefore there isn't a danger of mosquito spread

You could make a bioweapon with flies by putting a ton of flies in a room with infected people who are coughing all over food that the flies are also eating and then release the flies.

I work at Sutter Delta in Antioch and can say as well that the ER has been incredibly slow. Lots of us are being sent home early because there's no patients to see. It's been quite boring the past few weeks to be honest. Because people are staying at home, they're also not getting injured as frequently such as lacerations, broken bones, car accidents, etc. It's shocking how little "emergencies" there actually are when people don't use the ER as a 24 hour clinic.

They've never made a coronavirus vaccine that didn't kill more rats than it protected and it seems like it takes more like a decade to get a drug to market, I feel like the 18 month timeline is some wishful thinking

Fully agreed. The 18 month number was a "lol this is the absolute and utter fastest mad max timeline for maybe having something usable".

Usually this poo poo takes 4-7 years.

When mosquitos act as a vector, it’s not because they backwash. It’s because the pathogen is capable of moving through the mosquito’s body and into its salivary glands.

HIV is not capable of this trick.
