In the original run of Roseanne the oldest daughter Becky got swapped out until like, the last two seasons when the original returned iirc. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? I didn't watch the re-make of Roseanne but I understand that both Becky actresses were in it and they made stupid jokes about this fact.

The replacement was Sarah Chalke who was later on Scrubs and had a run on How I Met Your Mother. One of her nicknames after being on Roseanne was "Second Becky"

The one thing I really respected about 30 Rock was that the first two seasons pretended Liz was struggling financially to make her more relatable, then the 08 crash happened. They had a few throwaway lines where Fey is handwringing about her finances and Baldwin says to her "you're the head writer for a popular NBC show, you're doing ok" and the pretension to financial issues was never brought up again.
