Listen, I've been around a bit, you know, and I thought I'd seen some creepy things go on in the movie business, but I really have to say this is the most disgusting thing that's ever happened to me.

I'd be one of them if I was childless! I only leave home once a week to play wizard poker, aside from that.

Lack of childcare is definitely impacting our lifestyle, though, so I can't claim 9%erness.

i wake up at 7:45 a.m. and roll out of bed, out of my pajamas and into my day leggings. i brush my teeth and wash my face and do a 30 to 60-minute workout in a mat-sized space i’ve carved out of my tiny living room to use as my “home gym.” i check in on slack with my colleagues. i write. (some days, this goes better than others.) i zoom into a meeting. i cook something (probably an alison roman recipe). maybe i facetime for social interaction. maybe i watch something on netflix. maybe i livestream some yoga. maybe i run out to buy food and try to stave off a panic attack at the grocery store. i drink a glass of wine. i take off my day leggings and change back into pajamas. some days, the whole schedule thing goes to hell because it can be impossible to be productive during a global crisis and i’m just trying not to lose my mind. i go to bed. repeat.

death numbers for yesterday actually don't seem that bad? i mean yeah sure it was 968 or whatever per worldometer but that's actually less than the day before. first time i can remember the death rate not increasing by like 30% on a daily basis.

i'd imagine a big jump today or maybe soon - possibly not on the weekend though. or perhaps the fix, as they say, is in.

Based on the small sample size they're probably only in phase I. So at this point they're just trying to make sure it won't kill anyone.

Phase III is when they have to actually prove it works with thousands of people. Most drugs and vaccines don't make it past this point :sigh:

they chose sample size probably based on this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Margin
which in turn comes from some buddhist tradition

quote:

Water Margin was based on the exploits of the outlaw Song Jiang and his 108 companions (The 36 "Heavenly Spirits" and the 72 "Earthly Demons").

On a good day I wake up at noon to some noise outside, look at the computer for a couple hours to try and make sense of what the world’s become. Around two I pour myself a cup of coffee and slowly drink half of it over the course of an hour and then I’m finally wide awake and ready to make cheap shots about whatever the forums are talking about today. Then I game for a bit and then stay up until dawn catching up on something that seemed more important than sleeping at the time. Only reason I’m only having mild panic attacks about this is it effectively means it’s not my fault if I die young because the deck was stacked against me from the start and I’ve found some measure of peace knowing that.
