He's a pooshited shitter, but he was a hell of a player, might be one of the most underrated players of the prem era nowadays.

Che storia figata, ragazzo!

Van Nistelrooy always reminds me of the good old days when the PL was on basic cable here and narrated by the singing Bambino Pons

Ruud was the epitome of "great scorer of goals, not scorer of great goals," as opposed someone like Le Tissier.

Are there any pure poachers left nowadays like he or Pippo Inzaghi were (Chicarito doesn't count since he's retired in MLS)? I think strikers/forwards typically are expected to do a lot more than score in The Modern Game™.

all players are expected to do more than their role demanded in the past tbh

like what role now isn't expected to contribute more to the overall tactic/system compared to 10 or 20 years ago?

If you count the Dutch league, Huntelaar is still playing. I've also seen Moussa Dembele (the one at Lyon) described that way, but I don't watch the French league anymore and couldn't really say.

I think you could count Cutrone as one though he’s not nearly at the level of any of the real legendary poachers.

Piatek was one last season now he’s just a garbageman.

Maybe Wout Weghorst at Wolfsburg?

(I for some reason like following weird strikers AZ Alkmaar churns out since the Jozy thing)

It's amazing how calm on the ball he was, he seemed to have ages to chose where to place it

Don't know how Lyon use him but, at Celtic he also was a great outlet because he could hold up the ball and bring others into play

There’s an early Giggs goal where he goes through half the QPR team before scoring that I don’t think is as famous as it should be, iirc the pitch looked like a potato field and he kept control of the ball like it was on carpet
