Plating an MRE or IMP is never a great idea. I find eating out of the bag helps to obscure some of the nastier contents, and makes it easier to sustain the (admittedly false) hope that perhaps the next bite won't as vile.

If that’s the thing you’d choose over everything else, that’s really telling at what the others must be like  It’s been forever since I had an MRE, did they actually revamp the menu like they were going on about in ~2014/2015?

Not over everything else, but it’s a top 1/3 option. The main is good, it comes with a nice hot sauce, peanut butter, some other decent sides as i recall. Easy to eat, better hot but just fine cold. Menus are very different from back before 2014/15. I'd say they still aren't great, but are significantly better. I didn't have one meal that just left me going "gently caress this gently caress this" and not eating. Which is more than I can say about the older stuff. edit: Decent sides, the pepper sauce really helps the main course, which is still pretty decent on its own. Not unlike a Healthy Choice microwave pasta, which isn't great but is totally "fine"
