There was a small and poorly performed French study, not even sure if it's been published or ever will be, suggesting some efficacy of HCQ. The quality of the study is such that I suspect it never will be published, and one of the investigators is kind of a shady character. That's where it comes from. There's been plenty of use of it since then and I think in some early cases it may help some but it's not anything close to a wonder cure.
