Yeah I mean he won't undermine Starmer because that's his jam but he's got millions of followers who will stick with him so imagine all the anti-war, pro-socialist groups and speakers who he can and will amplify to the loving stratosphere giving his reach. Losing the leadership sucks and we should acknowledge that but drat if we don't have more weapons, people and attitude in our arsenal than we have in years. Now is the time to cut lose and enjoy ourselves in our rhetoric.

They need to own this and pay the price. The thing about this, though, is that most of the worst aspects of the UK's COVID-19 response are yet to really hit home. We have a healthcare system with high efficiency but low capacity, and a badly shredded social safety net. As soon as the rent freeze ends or the health issues we've been ignoring because of COVID-19 start piling up to a critical mass, poo poo is going to get extremely real.

I'd have thought - even with the kind of definitely-not-NHS hospital he'd be going to - that they'd not want him to actually spend any more time than he needed to in hospital, especially with the PR angle, so unless someone can tell me that there is actually a legit reason to do this that we're definitely not getting the whole story. No, it's bullshit. Nobody gets kept in "for tests", you either get kept in for treatment or for observation. Even if he needed a CT scan, which is the most complex test I can think of that might be useful for coronavirus, with his position they'd be a radiologist waiting to read the result as soon as he came off the scanner. If he's in hospital they're worried about him.

There's a mortgage payment holiday (which AFAIK still has to be paid back by the borrower) but no official rent freeze. There's a 3 month moratorium on evictions, which is probably what you were thinking of?

There's no rent deferral either. Landlords are under no obligation to reduce or forgive any rent debt over this whole period. The only thing that has changed is that a section 21 eviction is now 3 months as opposed to 2. That's it. One thing though, is that landlords are not entitled to any of the self employed payments that the government recently announced as property is seen as investment and not regular self employed work.

Based on current experience I'd say that Boris has around a 1 in 3 chance of surviving this, assuming they're lying about him being admitted as a precaution.
