Yeah, but the people who support him mostly won't notice. They basically just perceive what Biden (or other politicians) say through the tone they use. This is also why they don't like Bernie. They don't really know what he's saying, but they know that the tone is sometimes angry, which causes them to raise their hackles. Biden, on the other hand, just has a sort of "plaintive" tone to his speech, so it keeps them calm and doesn't spook them like Bernie does.

Basically what I'm saying is that Bernie's biggest mistake during this primary is that he didn't give enough treats to boomers. Some positive reinforcement - a biscuit and a pat on the head - would have, over time, created a Pavlovian response that leads these people to vote for Bernie. It's sad, but this is the price our society collectively pays for the use of lead in gasoline.

The thing is, they think they care. From their perspective, they think these things are terrible under Trump, but under a Democratic president they instead choose to talk about the bad things other Republican politicians are doing or saying. You can maybe get them to admit that Democrats are also doing the vast majority of this same stuff, but it's not what they'll choose to think/talk about on their own (and they'll quickly forget about it because it doesn't come up in the media they watch/listen to). To them, "are you saying the Republicans are better" is a universal response to any criticism of Democrats.

Propaganda works exceptionally well on liberals because they have an incorrect understanding of what propaganda even is. To them, as long as the individual facts that lead them to their conclusions are correct (or not provably incorrect), their conclusion must also be correct (or at least unassailable).

This makes sense. So its kinda a freakonomics situation with the boomers in regard to the lead in gasoline.

I was talking to my dad yesterday. He's pretty bummed out Bernie didn't win because he knows that after biden things are going to get a lot worse. He is worried for the grandkids because they will be entering the job market in the next republican administration.

If your county convention hasn't happened yet, the process of becoming a delegate usually consists of "express interest in becoming a delegate" and "show up to convention", because there are generally waaaaaay more slots than interested people.

If it has happened yet, contact your county party anyway for the aforementioned reason, they might be able to squeeze you in.

I got my email on Friday from the state party telling me I was a state delegate and giving me links for how to check my info, declare a presidential preference, declare an interest in being a national delegate, etc.

Hey, I think Joe is a demented racist creep who should not elected office - but what exactly is the issue here? Politician has a celebrity and his wife introduce him with 2 and a half minutes of platitudes, and he touches his eye once (with presumably washed indoor hands), and then makes a lame Boomerish joke about being allowed to talk. Bernie would do the same.

Would be easier if people focused on the actual evidence of him being a demented racist rapist creep rather than this James O Keeffe poo poo

Bernie basically wrote a letter to the editor. It's not like either them directed their campaigns to churn out masks, get volunteers to shop for those at risk or even call to donate blood. Their campaign websites don't even have anything linking to aid or information on how you can help. Bernie's site just has a link to a town hall speech promising action, but like Biden there has been no actual action. It's disappointing that neither have shown any actual leadership or effort beyond election speeches.

And they've been texting donors links to charities to donate to instead of asking for campaign donations

As a politician in opposition the foremost thing you can do is to pose a different vision and propose policies to enact said vision, from the current government. That is exactly what Bernie has done.

This idea of mobilizing people to counter the shortfall of the current government is some of the most liberal bullshit possible, essentially depleting resources from the bottom of society, to not inconvenience the top. Most of the people voting for Bernie are the very people getting absolutely wrecked by Covid-19 and are getting fired in millions, meanwhile the great liberal minds have cooked up some plans to reduce taxes on the very riches people and telling people to go vote during a pandemic.

Bernie is not in power and cannot do much more than he has, and that is a lot more than anyone else.

Wisconsin is voting tomorrow because neither party is particularly motivated to delay it there. The article explains it but they're also having a general election for the state supreme court, some judges, and local government. Republicans don't want increased turnout from absentee ballots being mailed out to everyone because it could be disastrous for their positions around the state. Dems want to throw people into the Biden woodchipper collectively so there's not more hoopla about it.

the governor did actually try to delay, but the Republican legislature is blocking it because of Wisconsin Supreme Court elections

the Wisconsin Democratic party and DNC also have filed for an injunction against the Tuesday primaries with the SCOTUS as well as a measure of last resort

My bad, the Democrats are pushing to allow for an extendded absentee abllot period so no one has to go to the polls and get sick on Tuesday. The Republicans are the ones suing to force people into the polls.

It is important to note that up until Friday the democratic governor was fine with the election going on as scheduled. And in the lawsuit in federal court the governor himself entered an amicus brief suggesting a "middle path" of making it easier to vote by mail (but doesn't even call for a transition to entirely mail voting).

The Democrats took another middle-road approach too late when it was obvious this should have been delayed a month ago. The Biden campaign has been pushing narratives like "the CDC says it's safe out there" since mid-March. They're absolutely complicit in any vote not being postponed at this point, the Republicans doing what we expect them to do is just a happy accident to them at this point.

e: I had the same problems with IL and FL running theirs three weeks ago. It was extremely reckless then, it's not any better now. Talking heads screeching all day on Twitter and TV about how poo poo a job Trump is doing with the shutdown, not a peep about the active Democratic primary elections where thousands of people are going to stand in lines and share pens and booths. In fact, I think I’ve gotten more texts from the Bernie campaign about the pandemic than I did for most of the election season, asking me to do things like sign petitions about Amazon and Walmart, donating to relief efforts, etc. And that’s after a year where his campaign consistently reached out to encourage and support people fighting against oppression.

Is there evidence that Biden has done similar outreach? I find it hard to believe that he’s done anything on Bernie’s scale, but surely he’s done something beyond these livestreams?
