Most of that money goes to mostly white, mostly male, mostly boomer+ who have next to no skills. It's such a huge grift government contracting. The 'skilled' part of our workforce has grown dramatically since the inception of the contract I work on while the hourly workers have stagnated. Yet, the scope of the 'skilled' work hasn't really changed. And well most of the people don't do a whole lot. Even the talented people who do 80% of the work don't really do much. It's rather insane.

The military is completely inept. Don't get any allusions that it's somehow uniquely competent like the Army Core of Engineers, the AirForce and it looks like the navy at least are completely clueless.

When you look at crumbling infrastructure that exists in our government and military organizations in terms of Skilled people who can organized and mange complex organizations.

Really it's a blessing that the necrotic touch of finance capital is a double-edged sword that has also infected and completely undermined our military capabilities because it's real hard to maintain an empire with a plastic sword. Hopefully we figure that out and decline quietly instead of picking a fight and finding out we're Wile E. Coyote after he's already run off the cliff.

Well somethings going to happen. There is no way that every single person who works in our building wont' get it. And the larger majority of contractors are 55+. It's hard to imagine what the casualties will be, but there will be some. How the government who already can't hire competent people does when a quarter of their contracting work force dies, retires, or is forced to limit their work for health reasons deals with this i do not know.

Good news! It only takes a long time if we successfully flatten the curve. If we don't, then everyone will be exposed in the matter of a few months and then things can go back to normal*.

we can't know for certain until testing is widespread enough to catch everyone staying at home/asymptomatic so it's really just guesswork at this point

20% of cases serious enough to drive someone to go get tested are also bad enough to warrant hospitalization, which is still somewhat ill-defined. the worst cases result in ventilators and those usually result in death. the REAL question is how many people are dying at home without even factoring into these numbers?

Thanks, exactly what I thought was up. They dropped 227k tests Saturday followed up by 140k tests Sunday. % positive still loving 20%.The testing capacity hasn't increased suddenly nor has the positive case average dropped, just manipulated reporting to justify TRUMO narrative of improvement.

Yeah it’s going to take someone looking at total deaths due to any listed cause and comparing it to the average of the past few years. I don’t know of any local coroners doing autopsies on anyone right now so the cause of death is just whatever the pronouncing doctor’s best guess is. Even worse is the calls you get from EMS over the phone for a death in the field, you just put cardiac or pulmonary arrest for those.
